Skidegate EOC supports the new measures set out by the Province - November 18, 2020

As restrictions increase, bubbles may be on your mind. This is my piece for the Xaaynangaa naay Creative Challenge (Janet Rigg) about Bubbles; how this new concept of social interaction is influencing our social, emotional, and even physical wellness. I cut out circles as I thought about bubbles, from magazines, interesting paper, and art I'd done with the kids through COVID, and played with the composition. I then went to town with oil paint, varnish, and other mixed media to compete the final piece. One aspect of ourselves that bubbles hasn't changed, is spirituality. I see spirit in the creation and sharing of art! Spirit is everywhere, connects us all, and knows no bubble.

With COVID back on island, some of you might be feeling frustrated, even angry. That's okay, and normal! However, it is important to channel that energy in a healthy and creative way so we can continue to be kind to one another. Carrie-Lee, our dental hygienist, did just that, with this SLAM POETRY piece calling out this COVID virus for messing with our lives so much Enjoy!
