Thanks to all who joined our Zoom AGM last night. Not nearly as much fun as the face-to-face kind, but we had some great feedback. The big announcement came from Head Groomer, Lyle Fair, who revealed that we will be extending the Trail west to Blair this season.

Prep now for winter! #winteriscoming and that brings #nordicskiing #fatbiking #snowshoeing #hiking #walking which means great #fitness and #mentalhealth on the the Ski Heritage East trail. Don't just wait for the snow to fall, get out on the trail whatever way you can. Bring a friend and show them where the Ski Heritage East trail goes so they are ready to enjoy it this winter also! Make it part of your daily routine!

The Grooming crew hard at work preparing our gear for the coming season. This crew, all of whom have full-time jobs, devote countless hours each season to the hard work necessary to keep the Trail in awesome condition. Next time you see one of them on the Trail, please say thanks.... #winteriscoming #nordicskiing #mentalhealth

Ski Heritage East will be happy to host this little competition: "There was a moment the other day when councillors Riley Brockington and Theresa Kavanagh moved a motion to promote outdoor physical exercise this coming winter, then the mayor made a crack about the two of them having a cross-country ski race. I know where I'm going to put my money, he said, knowing Kavanagh is a triathlete. Then Kavanagh piled on, asking that Coun. Mathieu Fleury, who’s generally regarded ...as one of council’s younger, fitter members, be included in the contest because she needed some "some motivation." So poor Brockington goes from encouraging outdoor exercise to being publicly shamed!" Matt Luloff - can you arrange this? #mattluloff #cityofottawa

Big thanks to returning sponsor, Jean Richer, agent extraordinaire for Keller Williams. Jean was our first KM sponsor and is back for his third year. If you know of a local business that might like to sponsor a KM, please send us a PM and we'll follow up.

"Supporting a diverse range of winter activities"! We welcome the continued support of the NCC for the Trail.

The Ski Heritage East Trail would not have been possible without the leadership of Bob Monette. Bob saw the merits of this project while we were still sitting around a kitchen table dreaming. He guided us through the City Hall processes and dipped into his Councillor's budget to help us get off the ground. Many thanks to a man well deserving of this honour.

And we're off ! We just received our first GoFundMe donation of the 2020/21 season (thanks Anna)! The community has been incredibly supportive over the past three years, whether by individual donations ranging from $20 to $200 or through our $500/km sponsorship program. This is vital as the 50% of operational expenses contributed by the City and NCC will only flow as long as we can demonstrate solid community support. ... Last year we were also fortunate to receive a major contribution from Brigil ,https://www.facebook.com/BRIGIL which enabled us to purchase the Ginzu groomer that has significantly improved our grooming capabilities. With all the uncertainties and challenges facing us over the coming winter, Ski Heritage East looks forward to providing eastern Ottawa with a crucial outdoor experience. See you on the Trail!
