I have high standards when it comes to the jewelry I wear, so why shouldn’t the pieces you buy from Skin + Stone be any different? All jump rings, earring posts/wires, chains and all metal components are made from either sterling silver, gold fill or rose gold fill metals. What is the difference between gold plated and gold fill? Gold plated is a very thin plating of gold alloy that can easily be rubbed away by wear and sometimes from people who have more acidic skin. Gold... fill is gold alloy that is 100x thicker than that of gold plating and is therefore less prone to wearing off through normal wear. If you take care of your gold fill jewelry it can last up to ten years or more! Sterling silver components are a little bit more prone to tarnishing, but it doesn’t cause nickel allergies or turn your skin green like some costume jewelry. Just take a soft cloth and give it a quick polish and your sterling silver jewelry is shining brightly in no time! I can’t get enough of a good oil cleanse. As an oily skinned girl, you’d think I’d like cleansers that leave me feeling squeaky clean and oil free. What does self care mean to you? Coming off a gorgeous long weekend cabin getaway, I’ve been reflecting on what self care actually means. I’ve found it can mean many many different things to different people. For me, self care means to do something that I fully enjoy. There is no agenda, no urgency for an hour or two. To be able to shut my brain off for an allotted time period knowing I don’t have to think about the bustling things around me. That thought alone already rel...axes me and gets me in a better mood and frame of mind. Beading and creating new jewelry, cross stitching, reading a good book with a hot cup of tea, a hot bath with a glass of wine and my favourite scented candle, singing, giving myself a long, deep oil cleanse complete with a self facial massage, or going away for the weekend. All of those things quiet my mind and help to get me ready for the day or any big decisions I have to make. Some are active and some are still. These activities are things I absolutely love to do outside of a career I love. Balance between work and self care is so important to me and really help to keep me from burning out.
