Read the evidence, presented in some detail in this article, and the comments of the Santa Clara D.A. at the end. This case should never have made it to court. https://ninerswire.usatoday.com//reuben-foster-has-domest/

A tragic story. While the details and cause of death are not yet confirmed this is a reminder for everyone. Never leave your child in a car alone, period. Never leave your child or pet in a car when it is even remotely warm outside.

...research done by her and colleagues in states that have legalized has not indicated that there has been any major change in how many teens are using the drug. [The gateway theory] has never stood up to scientific scrutiny, in part because it is more a popular concept and a cornerstone of prohibitionist policies rather than something thats ever been observed among humans, Dr. Milloy said.

The Ontario government has passed a bill overhauling policing regulations in the province, saying it will strengthen oversight of law enforcement and redefine officers duties. Highlights include suspension without pay in certain situations and fines or jail time if officers dont cooperate with investigations. https://www.facebook.com/citynewstoronto/posts/10155163256146175

As predicted by anyone with a working knowledge of the constitution and criminal law in Canada, the tough on crime mandatory minimum sentencing regime is slowly crumbling under Charter scrutiny. The expense to the taxpayer in litigating these cases must be extraordinary. https://www.facebook.com/theglobeandmail/posts/10156117961868904

The proposed impaired by cannabis legislation has some major issues. Someone who uses cannabis safely at home in the evening may well have THC levels above the legal maximum at all times, such as on their morning drive to work or their afternoon drive home, even when they are stone-cold sober. Can this be said to be impaired driving legislation if it criminalizes people whose ability to operate a motor vehicle are not impaired while driving?... https://www.facebook.com/theglobeandmail/posts/10156118145888904

Police could have called the mental health crisis team. They could have taken her to hospital. Instead, they called her teenaged son to fetch his mother. Christine Longridges sister drove her to the ER later that night. But the hospital refused to admit her. This is all too common a story in the Canadian justice system. Locally the London Police Service often do bring individuals suffering from a mental health crisis or drug induced episodes to a hospital only to see them released the same day.
