SKIN TIP M O N D A Y (because yesterday was hella hectic) If you have sensitive skin, especially, take care to pat your face dry rather than rub after you’ve cleansed.... The tugging of a towel can cause irritation, plus years of tugging at our skin can make it lose elasticity. When you rub around your eyes, dark spots are more likely to form. R O S A C E A A disorder that primarily affects the facial skin by the way of phases of flare-ups and remissions. Typically, the first signs will appear around age 30; they will first show up as redness on the cheeks, chin, nose, and forehead. These symptoms may come and go without worsening for some time. However, if the rosacea is left untreated, it will worsen over time and eventually lead to: visible blood vessels... bumps or pimples appearing in a red area swollen, bumpy or excessive tissue watery or bloodshot eyes To make your skin a red-free zone, start following these tips know your triggers for flares and try to avoid them (spicy food, alcohol, extreme heat or cold, stress) moisturize! Moisturizer is an essential skincare product for rosacea. Moisturizers create a barrier that locks our irritants and can help keep symptoms at bay. Choose a moisturizer that’s oil-free, fragrance-free, and hypoallergenic. The fewer ingredients, the better. use gentler cleansers. You need to avoid harsh cleansers and astringents, as they can make rosacea much worse. Although rosacea can appear lie acne, many acne treatments are irritating for people with rosacea. Don’t use products that contain retinoids or salicylic acid. Follow the same skincare guidelines you do for choosing a moisturizer. choose a fragrance-free, mineral-based makeup. This tends to be much less irritating to the skin than other types of makeup. When choosing a foundation, opt for pressed powder over liquid formulas because liquid can clog the pores and make rosacea symptoms worse. SPF! The top trigger for rosacea is sun exposure. In general, sunscreens with chemicals are too irritating for people with rosacea, but part of the treatment for rosacea is sun protection. Choose a sunscreen with physical blockers, such as zinc oxide or titanium. Like your other products make sure your sunscreens are fragrance-free and hypoallergenic, too.
