Curious about mole removal? When deciding to have moles removed, the first step is always a thorough examination to establish whether the moles in question are benign. If removal is recommended, we offer a range of treatment options, including: Shave Excision, which involves the use of a thin, razor-like tool to carefully slice away the mole. The procedure is simple, and does not require any stitches.... Surgical Excision, in which the entire mole including the root is cut out using a scalpel, after which the incision is closed with stitches. Surgical excision carries the least likely chance of regrowth, but unlike shave excision, often results in a more visible scar. If you have a skin concern you’ve been meaning to take care of, we’re here to help! Get in touch with us to learn more about your options.

The skin on your neck is unique from the skin on your face and because of that, it can benefit from a formulation specifically designed to address the aging triggers that lead to wrinkles, discolouration and laxity. The new Tripeptide-R Neck Repair from SkinCeuticals does just that. 0.2% retinol gently activates cell renewal while a 2.5% tripeptide concentrate helps to boost collagen production for noticeably smoother and firmer skin. This is a great preventative/maintenance at-home moisturizer that pairs well with professional treatments to maintain this delicate skin.

Fractional laser resurfacing offers a safe and non-invasive way to profoundly improve skin damage. We recently introduced Fraxel DUAL to our lineup of cosmetic dermatology treatments. A series of regular treatments can provide advanced skin rehabilitation for concerns such as deep wrinkles, acne scars, and skin discolouration. Fraxel works by breaking up the laser beam into microbeams which are spaced apart in a grid-like pattern to partially treat the skin. This fractional... approach is what allows for a safe and non-invasive skin repairing treatment. It is also why a series of treatments yields the best result; with each treatment the parts of the skin left untreated in previous sessions have an opportunity to be repaired. Once the final outcome is achieved, we recommend annual maintenance treatments to preserve the improvements you’ve made in your skin.

Recognized as one of the most effective hydrating ingredients, hyaluronic acid (HA) is capable of holding 1000 times its weight in water , in turn delivering moisture to the skin without clogging pores. This hero ingredient is found in SkinCeuticals HA Intensifier, along with 10% Proxylane to support skin’s hyaluronic acid levels and 2.0% Licorice Root Extract and 0.2% Purple Rice Extract which help to preserve hyaluronic acid content in the skin.... Using HA Intensifier under your daily moisturizer amplifies hyaluronic acid levels by 30%, plumping skin cells and visibly improving skin’s texture.

Get your daily dose of skin renewal with SkinCeuticals retinol. Used nightly, retinol stimulates cell turnover, fights the visible signs of aging, and improves the look of fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep. A steady, even release of pure retinol minimizes any potential irritation, ensuring you wake up to radiant skin.

The cold and dry winter weather can exacerbate conditions like eczema and psoriasis. While these conditions have different root causes, both are challenging to address on your own and require specialized care. The important thing to know is that neither eczema or psoriasis is contagious, and there are new and innovative ways these skin conditions can be managed.

Looking for a quick and effective way to boost your collagen and improve skin radiance? The safety profile of microneedling means that all skin types can enjoy the benefits of skin resurfacing without the associated risk and downtime of laser. Patients see noticeable skin improvements within one treatment, while a series of treatments is usually recommended to achieve optimal results for acne scarring and advanced sun damage.... Questions? Send us a message or give us a call we’d love to help you make an informed choice about microneedling for your skin health.

Skin Science Dermatology 23.11.2020

How does microneedling boost your skin’s collagen? During treatment, the microneedles that are glided over the skin penetrate to therapeutic depths in the dermis. This creates a micro-wound, breaking up adhesions in the connective tissue as well as scar tissue, and activating a wound-healing response in the skin. This helps to remodel your existing collagen and kickstarts the production of new collagen in your skin. Boosting your collagen leads to fewer fines lines and wrinkl...es, refined pores and a smoother skin texture. What’s not to like about that? Treatments are quick and the recovery is quite manageable. Want to learn more? Send us a message or give us a call we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Fortunately, our favourite daily combination from #skinceuticals a vitamin C antioxidant serum + mineral sunscreen effectively neutralizes free radical damage and protects against environmental aggressors. Book an appointment with our esthetician to learn which topical antioxidant and sunscreen combination is ideal for your skin!

Skincare ingredients can be confusing. Tretinoin belongs to a class of medications called retinoids one of the most widely researched and proven skincare ingredients available and is actually the unsung hero of the skin care world. As we age, it’s normal to notice our skin losing its plump firmness. Topical treatments can only do so much to address this natural facial volume loss which is where dermal fillers (such as Belotero and Juvéderm) step in. These injectable treatments literally fill lost volume on the face and neck correcting lines, wrinkles, and hollows. Dermal fillers can also be used to hydrate your skin for a refreshed and dewy appearance, as well as making the lips fuller, more defined and/or more even. They really are a positive aging workhorse. We often combine dermal fillers with neuromodulators to achieve the most uniform and flattering outcomes.

11am to 3pm is when the UV index is at its height. This means your skin can burn far more easily during this period of time. It’s recommended to stay out of the sun between these hours, but if it cannot be avoided, take extra precautions to protect your skin. In addition to sunscreen, cover up with clothing scarves, hats, sunglasses and long sleeves. These extra steps will go a long way towards keeping your skin safe and allowing you to enjoy the sun responsibly.

Skin Science Dermatology 06.08.2020

Did you know that a treatment with neuromodulators like Botox or Xeomin can not only reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles, but can ease lines on the neck as well? This is great news for patients seeking to rejuvenate the look of their neck without downtime. If you’d like to learn more about this neck rejuvenation option, we welcome you to book a consultation with us to answer your questions and discuss your goals.

This safe and straightforward procedure will enhance your natural beauty, all with little discomfort. Our goal is to always help our patients look and feel like the best version of themselves. Are you using enough sunscreen? When planning to spend time in the sun, the appropriate amount of sunscreen that should be applied to your skin is 1oz. (about the size of a shot glass). Often people don’t apply enough sunscreen, resulting in those patchy burns which no one wants!... Visit us to stock up and ensure you have plenty of sunscreen to stay safe all year long.

Skin Science Dermatology 02.06.2020

Every patient will hear this message from us: wear a minimum SPF 30 broad spectrum sunscreen daily, whatever the weather. Unfortunately, as much as this guidance is emphasized, not everyone makes daily sunscreen use a habit. The common thought is that if you’re inside for most of the day, why would you need sunscreen? It’s important to keep in mind that sun damage accumulates over time so even those 15 minutes of exposure on your morning commute will add up. Eventually this... damage shows up as unwelcome brown spots, redness, skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, and worse! Wearing sunscreen 365 days a year can future-proof your skin, ensuring it stays healthy, radiant and youthful for years to come!
