This is the great globular cluster in the constellation Hercules. It is approximately 22,000 light years away and is estimated to contain 300,000 stars! It can be seen quite easily with binoculars. It is one of the Messier objects and is designated as "M13". This image is a stack of 59 two-minute exposures. Every single dot in this photo is a star except for one, which is a faint galaxy! Can you find it?

Partridge Creek Falls, as I call them, are located in central Ontario, well off the beaten path. If you are willing to drive 20kms down a gravel road then you can park right in front of them. As they are only a trickle by mid-summer they are best viewed in early spring during the run-off.
