As a home builder on the precipice of a 350K project, I just listened to a rep of the UK Gov't who has committed to "no interest loans for 6 months" for small businesses. I'm really interested to see if Trudeau's Liberals will follow suit. Remember, I'm the worker with the skills and the labour generating money for everyone else (Insurance, brokers, bankers, etc.) AND putting my health at risk in my daily interactive operations. Time to step up Canada. I'm watching.

Pro Tip: In terms of framing for structural integrity (the frame is the 'skeleton' of the structure) it is my opinion that the use of threaded construction screws is preferable over the use of generic nails that are mass produced for pneumatic nailers. (Construction screws are considerably more expensive and generally frowned upon for large-scale projects because of this...) Besides the increased structural integrity factor, 2 other advantages are obvious; when "nailing" at a...ngles, one can better detail the angle of insertion with an impact gun in comparison to a large pneumatic nailer. The other is that if one needs to make corrections or changes to existing framework, one can easily 'reverse-out' screws with an impact gun with minimal damage to the wood material. Pneumatic nailers, depending on the psi settings of the air compressor, often sink below the surface of the wood frame and take extra time to remove and extra care not to damage the wood frame. ~ K See more

Professional tip: Although sealants and construction adhesives aren't regulated under current building codes, choosing the correct one can mean the difference between a 10 year call back or a 1 year call back. The cheapest ones shouldn't even be on the shelves; my "go-to" for both sealants and adhesives is the LePage line of products. They're also the most expensive, and in my experience, are very rarely the choice of large-scale industrial/corporate builders or handymen who are just in it for a quick buck- they want the repair call back in a year's time. ~ K
