This patient had been putting off doing a crown on their tooth for a couple of years. Last week, she presented with a fracture. Unfortunately this fracture was too deep to save the tooth, so we had to place an immediate implant in the area. Oftentimes, patients will postpone treatment because of cost. But delaying treatment for too long ultimately only increases the cost of treatment. Luckily, we were able to solve the issue with one surgery but had she opted to do the c...rown when we first noticed the tooth getting weaker, we would have done only a crown. This patient presented with multiple broken anterior teeth from a kite-surfing accident. The front teeth were all broken to the gumline, leaving the roots in tact. We removed the roots, and placed 3 immediate implants into the space. After a period of healing where the patient wore an appliance for temporary teeth, we were able to fabricate his new implant prosthetics when we re-opened after our shutdown. This patient decided to stage her treatment for financial reasons. She was very unhappy with the uneven colour of her teeth, as well as the caved in look of her back teeth. She asked us to restore her front teeth first, and 2 years later asked us to finally restore the posterior teeth. She declined implants, and wanted a new bridge made. I fabricated an acrylic temporary bridge by hand chairside in early March just before the shutdown (the discoloured one in the background). When I saw her 6 months later, the bridge was still in tact, and quite strong. She liked the shape a...nd dimensions of the teeth that we made for her, so I asked the lab to duplicate the shape in ceramic with a digital scan. The second pic shows how badly broken down the teeth were, and the third pic shows an up close of her smile with the acrylic temporaries. The final photo is finished result in ceramic. We evened out the proportions of his front teeth, replaced the crown and placed veneers on some of adjacent teeth and voila, new smile, new life. Implant bridge front teeth. From start to finish. Swipe for the full story. WARNING: GRAPHIC PHOTOS. This patient presented with an broken old bridge from canine to central incisor. Both teeth supporting the bridge were badly broken down (picture 2) so we opted to remove the teeth and make a new implant-supported bridge. We extracted the teeth and immediately placed the implants (picture 3). After bone grafting and soft tissue grafting, we closed the site with suture...s (picture 4). At 3 weeks post op, things are looking good (picture 5). Picture 6 shows how well-healed everything looks at 4 months (we took this the weeks back from COVID-hiatus). Picture 7 shows how beautiful the soft tissue looks without the healing abutments in place. The final pics are self-explanatory. Got to see emergency patients today and do some real work after a few weeks of dental inactivity. Sure the office is a lot quieter without the steady flow of patients we’re used to but even to be able to see emergency patients and use my hands again was so awesome. Removed some infected wisdom teeth, removed some stitches from previous surgeries and did some emergency root canals...felt SO GOOD to be back in the saddle, even for a bit. Missed my team.
