It has come to our attention that some kicksledders have experienced sled dogs and therefore do not fit into the Pet Dog category of our races. If we can get 3 or more kicksled teams we will add a kicksled race. To be clear, this is for kicksledders with experienced sled dogs. Those with pet dogs will be in the pet dog category. If this is you please let us know if you would be interested in coming out.

YUKON BREWING COPPER HAUL LEAGUE update: with the weather about to throw a major wrench in the works...the trail will be inspected on Thursday and Friday, with the organisers making a decision based on safety, Friday afternoon. Presuming all is good: Standard Race rules will apply; sleds must have dog bag, brake, and snow hook; PASSING RULES will be explicitly explained at the pre-race meeting, basically:... 1) if someone catches you up and calls "TRAIL" at the top of their voice it is because they are FASTER than you, they have caught you and you must let them pass as quickly and safely as possible. 2) the catching team has priority, the caught team does as it is told 3) if your dogs don't know how to behave, raise an arm to indicate you are going to stop, kick in your snow hook, run up and hold your leaders out straight, and use choice language on those dogs who think it's a good idea to "go see" the passing dogs 4) failure to support safe passing will result in severe penalty. Kid racers top out at 15, 16 y/o run with the adults (or people aged over 16). Pet Dogs, everything and everyone welcome, no old or "slower" sled dogs: Go in the League Race, the time handicap will even the field. Snowmachine support by kind donation from Mike Edwards of Icy Waters Ltd. Cash from Yukon Brewing and Skywolf K9 Adventures; rather tasty quality locally produced farm product prizes from: Fox Ridge Farm Grizzly Pigs Farm Icy Waters Ltd TumTums Black Gilt Meats Yukon Grain Farm Yukon Grown Products for Yukon's Working Dogs .... and their Humans Yukon Brewing's Copper Haul League... ...where all the Cool Dogs go

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this. My best bud, my cuddle buddy Bam Bam has passed away. Unfortunately it was a very unexpected end for him and us and he has left a hollow place in our lives. Those of you who knew Bam Bam know what a special dog he was to everyone. As one friend pointed out he was loved all over the world. He touched so many lives with his quirky way of running to his "no concept of personal space".lol He was a very special soul who loved everyone.

I would say everyone appears pretty happy with the yard extension. A big thank you goes out to our handlers who helped make this happen. Mary, Annetta, Aline and Baptiste.

We have added a diplosaurous to our repertoire. Looks deceivingly like Tiger though. Poor boy broke his foot but is on the mend. Thank you Alpine Vets and Canada West Veterinary Specialists Dr. Micheal King, for saving his leg and giving him,and us, the care we all needed during this tough time. We hope to see Tiger run again in the months ahead.

Say hello to our newest team members. No, not turkeys just adorable puppies from our friend Coady Lee. These little cuties are out of his Ebony and Slick. In the first photo we have the black and tan Firefly with Banchee. In the second photo is Phantom, with the mask, and Banchee. They are so well socialized after spending the summer at Caribou Crossing and getting lots of love from visitors and great care by the staff. They are also great little escape artists testing Jonathans kennel building skills. If they weren't so small they would not be able to fit through the fence.lol All has been remedied though. They love to bounce around, explore and get cuddles or tummy rubs. They will definitely add some new life to the kennel. Love these girls to pieces.

Well it took more than a week but it is official , Skywolf is back in business. We will be offering smaller sled dog experiences to our Yukon customers. Also Jonathan will be offering bikjoring and skijoring lessons which includes the training of an individuals own dog, to pull. Now all we need is the snow

Our new team. Decided to get into turkey mushing. It can be very challenging at times. They don't really work as a team. Much harder than pig mushing. lol

Hello everyone. It has been awhile since our last post but a lot has been happening. We have successfully completed our move from Nova Scotia back to Yukon. In the interim our ever faithful Rhonda(the sweety of the kennel) decided it was time to go, but Gwen took it upon herself to grace us with 8 puppies the same day. So the trip was eventful. Everyone has settled into their new pens and some are enjoying jumping in and out. Some fixing needs to be done. Jonathan is training every night. (alternating teams) trying to get the dogs up to the mileage they should be at this time of year. They are LOVING it. We even get a bunch of them sitting up front expecting to run lead. Sorry guys we can only have two leads per run. We have already had snow, now gone, and today it is blue skies and sunny. So good to be home.
