Heres just a few pictures of the trees that we have available. The trees are much more photogenic when in leaf, and things are definitely starting to leaf out! Next week will see the Flowering Crab in bloom!
Here are some of the trees we have left for sale. Most have started a little showing of fall colours!
Do you think you should plant trees in the fall? Well the answer is YES! Fall is a actually a great time to plant trees and shrubs. The soil is warmer in the fall, than in the spring, and there's still time for roots to get established before the snow arrives. Roots can grow in soil as cold as 40 degrees, and soil remains warm long after the air temperature drops. By this time of year the trees have already completed most of its growth, and therefore will not create more ne...w growth. As as result, the roots no longer are required to supply water and nutrients for the tree. Furthermore, as the trees are heading into dormancy, that energy is naturally being used to grow roots, which will anchor the plant. Spring is also a great time for planting, but make sure there are no heat waves in the forecast! The most ideal weather for planting is when it’s cool, even better when it’s raining! So if you need trees, fall is a great season for planting. Hope you enjoyed reading some of my info!
Taken this morning! It’s Sept 11 and things are slowing down on the tree farm, but there is still lots available and not too late to plant!
Time to share some of the latest tree photos. Growth like crazy from the warm summer we are having! The pretty blossoms are in our boulevard linden. They attract different types of bees . Interested in attracting birds? you’ll have birds through to winter with the fruit from a flowering crab like this Selkirk flowering crab.
