This is not just happening in the U.S
This is what Shell's big LNG Canada investment really means: Fracking. Fracking leaks 40% to 60% more methane than conventional natural gas wells. Methane is 8...4 times more potent than CO2 as a climate pollutant. When all things are considered, fracking is as bad for the climate as coal and will doom humanity to going over 2 degrees of warming. Authoritative research has revealed the fracking industry and government claims that shale gas is a clean fuel is completely false. "Methane Leaks Erase Climate Benefit Of Fracked Gas, Countless Studies Find" https://thinkprogress.org/methane-leaks-erase-climate-be// Fracking also uses an enormous amount of water and has contaminated ground water in many places. Once LNG gains control they can't be stopped. Despite a historic drought, California used 70 million gallons of water for fracking in 2014. In Texas, the fracking boom sucked away precious water from beneath the ground, leaving cattle dead, farms bone-dry and people thirsty. Is this what we want? On top of all that, new research has confirmed a link between fracking and flurries of earthquakes that have been shaking western Canada. British Columbia is on a dangerous fault line. We're risking public safety with LNG. The answer to all these problems is renewables investment! It would be good for jobs, the economy and the planet with no risks to public safety or our precious water. Fracking has been banned in France, Ireland, Scotland and many other places because more and more world leaders are accepting the gravity of the risks associated with fracking. It's a dangerous falsehood that fracked gas is a good "transitional" fuel to get the world off coal. We have the technology NOW to move directly to renewables - which is exactly what's needed to prevent catastrophic climate change. LNG investment diverts money away from renewables. Canada has the means to lead the world toward this transition.

Watch out for the return of the fabulous Green Team in September. We're planning new campaigns along with our annual e-Waste drive. We've now diverted over 12 tonnes of e-waste from landfill since 2015.
Hey folks! Didn't get the chance to bring your electronic waste to the college? We've extended our e-waste drive by another week! So drop by the college and drop off your e-waste before april 13th!
Don't forget to recycle your electronics before April 5th :) Message us if you have any questions
A fun game to try ... thank you to our friends at Ontario Electronic Stewardship!
The Green Team E-Waste Drive is still going. Here are a few things to remember: - The event runs from February 28 until April 5th - You can drop your e-waste off at anytime in small bins located throughout the St. Lawrence College. There is one at the maintenance of Moulinette and Aultsville building. - Small bins and e-waste are to ALWAYS be out of high traffic areas. Therefore they are located to the sides, by doors or by garbage bins. - If the small e-waste bins are full ...please make sure your e-waste is not in the way or find another bin that isn't full. - If you have large e-waste it can be directly dropped off in the shipping container located in south west parking lot (By the auto shop). This is the same location as previous years. - The large shipping container will be open Monday - Friday from approximately 9:00 until 4:00. - If the above time doesn't work please contact us for a specific delivery time Thank you :)
