Sleeping Giant Provincial Park 18.11.2020

Sleeping Giant offers amazing opportunities for winter hiking and backcountry camping! Before heading out on your winter adventure, here are some tips to help keep you safe: . Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return. . Bring a park map and plan out your route ahead of time.... . Dress in lots of layers and avoid wearing cotton . Wear winter footwear that will keep your feet dry and insulated. . Pack a headlamp and bring extra batteries! Days are much shorter in the winter so it's important to have a backup plan to navigate if it gets dark. . Drink lots of water and take lots of snack breaks while hiking. . Bring sunglasses and sunscreen! The sun's rays reflecting on snow and ice can be harmful for your eyes. . Pack a first aid kit and emergency essentials such as firestarter, a knife or multitool, shelter, and extra clothes, food and water. . Only hike on marked trails and stay back from cliff edges, they become more slippery and dangerous in the wintertime. . Happy trails! . #winterhiking #wintersafety #backcountryskills #wintercamping #ontarioparks #sleepinggiantprovincialpark See more
