We have another biweely #sleepygcsa share pickup this afternoon but Covid19 cases have heated up in Thunder Bay To help you get your share a little faster, we have added an additional person to assemble boxes and we will be operating as safely as possible. What can you do to keep us all safe?... When you come to the Cardinal Room or the farm to get your share please: wear your mask sanitize you hands be mindful of physical distancing when inside We will make sure you get your veggies and other items quickly and safely! Thanks!

Another try at beekeeping this season! Pretty successful... I think. Today the bees get moved to their winter house (the basement of the farm cottage). Hopefully the winter below ground goes okay and we will still have a hive (or two) in the spring.

Farmer Brendan had to take advantage of the dry, warm weather to plough some of our hayfields today. These old fields likely haven’t seen a plough or seed in about 40 years. He is doing this work with the intention to improve our hay quality and yield so that we can feed more cows and continue to produce quality beef. We are looking forward to some lush green fields next summer and some nice bales for our cows. #passlake #oldfarm #plough #farmwork #hayfield #pasture #smallfarm

Lots of ´lasts’ this week at the farm: It was our last week of work with this fine crew who was able to complete ALL the work in record time with accuracy and precision. Last work day for our longtime farm worker @david_mathesonn who has been our MVP since 2014. He and @meghan_johnny (Also MVP) will be moving across the country in the next few weeks. ... The last of the carrot and parsnip harvest was able to be completed, washed and stored in our cellar after snow, frozen soil and a tough October. This is the first time in many years we have been able to harvest all the crops we planted. Looking back on our 2020 growing season we feel lucky for these people and the MANY other members and pals who have contributed to our season, grateful for our bubble and how the farm has been a covid haven for ourselves and our team. We are sad to say goodbye but are excited for their future and the future of sleepy g farm. With the help of Meghan and Matheson we have built a farm that is beyond our farm dreams!! #marketgardeninginthenorth #farmingintheforest #harvest2020 #farmfamily #fallfarewell

Trick or treat at our farm tonight! Kids: come to the farm for some Halloween goodies (chocolate and carrots)! Parents: stop by our farm store for farm goodies (veggies, eggs etc)! Boo!

It’s a cold one this morning. Our farm team is happy to be nearing the end of our #2020harvest, just a few more harvest days left until we close up our veggie compound for the season.
