What is considered a fad diet? Fad diets are trending diets that often promise quick ways to lose weight and improve health but don’t align with the standard balanced diet. Some current popular fad diets include Whole 30, paleo, intermittent fasting, and the famous keto diet. In short, the keto diet involves cutting carbohydrate intake so levels so low that the body will instead burn excess fat. While this diet can be used to treat some specific health conditions..., the keto is also used as a weight loss method that can lead to nutritional imbalances and a negative relationship in food. While fad diets are promoted everywhere as the healthiest ways to live and lose weight, it is important to do your own research and consider how these diets will affect you long term! To learn more about my thoughts on the keto and my experiences with diet culture, check out my newest blog post through the link in my bio! See more

Feeling snacky? Try eating something high in fibre! Foods high in fibre help you feel full longer and can aid in your weight loss goals! Fibre can be found in plant-based products like vegetables and grains. For example, only two tablespoons of chia seeds have 11g of fibre so I supplemented them into my blueberry bars! hey! I challenge you to get outside this weekend! Did an excuse pop into your head right away? ... Any reason to not do it? Yeah, I have those thoughts too BUT I don't let them control my life. Try this: Excuse: It's raining! Response: so? Excuse: I'm busy Reponse: too busy to get outside for any amount of time? I don't think so! Excuse: I'm not allowed to go out because of covid Response: (sorry to hear that) but do you have a private outdoor space, patio? Can you go outside following certain protocols? Every time I go outside, I feel better. Sometimes I have to talk myself into or I need a buddy but, every time I feel better. Tell me what you’re going to do to get outside this weekend! you got this See more

SAVE THIS LIST Things to STOP saying around the holidays: I’m not going to eat all day to save up for dinner Diet starts after Christmas!... I’m eating whatever I want now because I am eating healthy for my New Years resolution! Why shouldn’t you say these things? Because they all encourage problematic and unhealthy eating behaviours. It’s 100% okay to enjoy some bigger family meals around the holidays, but that doesn’t mean the rest of your day or month needs to be affected by it. Restricting before a big meal can lead to bingeing, whereas planning to start eating healthy after X date is problematic for a number of reasons. Instead, eating healthy around 80% of the time leaves plenty of room for you to enjoy the holidays while still maintaining your weight (or even losing some!) Don’t be afraid to enjoy yourselves this holiday season, a couple of meals won’t ruin your progress as long as you maintain a balanced mindset and diet the rest of the time See more
