Slocan Valley Co-operative 13.12.2020

Our local community member, Captain with the Passmore Volunteer Fire Dept., and all around great guy, Bill Hillary has performed at our Co-op each year before Christmas, busking in the cold weather to shoppers at the front of our store in Slocan Park to raise funds for the community food bank. This year has been challenging for many to hold in-person fundraising events, but that won't deter Bill. From the warm comfort of his own home, Bill will be performing a selection of so...ngs between now and Christmas, sharing them with the community and new friends. The Co-op will also share his performances with you. To show our appreciation for Bill's efforts this Christmas season, the Co-op will also match all contributions received up to $500 for our beloved Busker Bill and the Food Bank. Donations can be made at the Slocan Valley Co-op in Slocan Park in Bill Hillary's name. Sit back and enjoy Bill's wonderful performances.

Change in Operating Hours Announcement *** Updated July 26th *** While we still may not be business as usual, we are adjusting to the increasing customer store traffic throughout the day by adding to the present operating hours.... As of July 26th, we are now open from 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Monday to Saturday, and 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM Sunday. Depending upon the number of customers in the store at any period of time, when we are at capacity, we are required to continue asking customers to wait just a few minutes until another customer has completed their transaction and exited. Just think about all that fine extra sun you might get to enjoy! Reminder that we are also offering food delivery services to customers who may be immunocompromised, under self-isolation, or seniors with minimal support. Call Delaine at 250-226-7433 - Ext 227 and we will give you all the details. You may need to leave a message for a call back. For the last six weeks, our team has been doing a fantastic job with cleaning and disinfecting all of the high touch-points to help keep us all safe. The dedication they regularly display in these difficult times is the same today as it was the day before, and will continue tomorrow. Thank you all for expressing your appreciation. Spirits remain high. Thank you for your continued support. We greatly appreciate your patronage.

We have now set up the option for grocery deliveries to people with difficulties shopping in person. Primarily for people in quarantine, or the vulnerable due to pre-existing conditions, or elderly without other support options, our team will assemble orders and we have partnered with the Passmore Firefighters as they have volunteered to deliver orders and check-in with members of the community. We are currently setting our delivery area from Crescent Valley to Slocan City. ...Due to regulations surrounding age-verifying, we are unable to take orders for regulated products like Liquor, Tobacco, or Lottery items. Orders can be placed by calling 250-226-7433 Extension 227. You may need to leave a message for callback, and you will be contacted to place your order before the next delivery day. Orders will be assembled and customers will be contacted for payment by credit card before delivery. We are currently assembling orders for deliveries on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The store is otherwise open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM - daily. Stay safe and healthy, everyone. For further status updates from your Co-op, simply click to 'Like' and 'Share' on this post.

OPERATING HOURS AND SERVICE CHANGES - *Update* Sunday, July 26th. The health and safety of our members, customers and employees is our top priority right now. Maintaining necessary physical distancing measures has become increasingly difficult as we are not being fully supported by everyone we interact with. We have seen an improvement in the habits of our guests, and the Team is very encouraged by this, improving their level of confidence. As we have a responsibility to ens...ure we are fully participating in practices to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we are forced to make the following changes to operations. 1) Hours of operation will be 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Monday to Saturday, and 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Sunday until further notice. 2) We are monitoring customer traffic, limiting the total number of guests inside the store when necessary in order to observe the current Interior Health Order. 3) Guests can once again shop the full store. 4) All regular forms of payment are accepted (debit / credit card and cash). 5) Fuel purchases via Pay at the Pump by debit / credit card are encouraged, though we also accept prepayment via cash in the store. 6) Our coffee, hot food, or other beverages are available at this time. We are doing everything we can to ensure our location remains open and accessible during the COVID-19 pandemic so that we can provide the community with their essentials. We are following government and health authority protocols and recommendations, and continue to have enhanced sanitation and hygiene practices. We expect customers will assist us by observing the following recommendations: - Purchase only what you need and don’t visit locations if you feel unwell, or have recently travelled. - Practice physical distancing. - Shop alone and reduce your trips out. - We ask that you leave your reusable shopping bags at home for now. We have paper bags, cardboard flats and boxes available. We all have to work together on this so that we will all come through as a community by trusting and relying upon one another. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this period. Thank you also to our team members for their dedication and service.

Message from the General Manager: The recent, botched break and enter of the Co-op turned out to be a much larger event in Slocan Park that started early in the night for the culprit. Immediately preceding the Co-op, entry was gained to the Slocan Park Post Office and the Slocan Park Community Hall. It is worth mentioning that it appears all items that were taken from all locations have been recovered and are in the hands of the RCMP for processing at this time. The culprit w...Continue reading

As you all know, we are not conducting 'business as usual'. While we are currently able to remain open our regular hours, we have been taking measures beyond an abundance of caution to protect our team and our customers. We are keeping up, but we are making a plea for your support in observing social distancing so that we can continue to support our communities. Change can be difficult, but your understanding will go a long way. Wash your hands often, avoid touching your face, and avoid social gatherings. Now, more than ever, we are all part of the same Team.
