Meet the instructors! Last, but not least... Blackie O’Connell will be teaching the Uilleann Pipes workshop as part of Slógadh 2020! Michael has been playing the pipes from a young age and is currently living, and playing, at the heart of Irish music in County Clare. He was taught the uilleann pipes by the great Limerick piper Mickey Dunne, to include further influences such as Paddy Keenan, Finbar Furey and Johnny Doran.... In 2010 he released the album; We Were Drinking and Kissing the Ladies, in collaboration with the renowned concertina player Hugh Healy, to great critical acclaim. Later in 2014, he released ‘Friars Green’, a duet album with Cyril O’Donoghue. Blackie is a regular guest of Na Píobairí Uilleann (Uilleann Pipes Association), and the William Kennedy Piping Festival. He teaches and performs at the annual Catskills Irish Arts Week in New York, and the Doran Tionol, as well as being a full time tutor at the Irish World Academy of Music, University of Limerick. Dust off your regulators, and join Blackie for what will be a weekend of piping heaven/ piping hell from May 15th - 17th!

Meet the instructors! The one, the only... Siobhán Peoples is our fiddle instructor for Slógadh 2020! Siobhán was born in County Clare, and is widely known as a leading fiddle player, as a teacher and a composer. For many a musical tourist, she is the highlight of a trip to Ennis, to hear her play in a session around town. With the recent release of a duet album ‘Time On Our Hands’, with accordion player Murty Ryan, many more people will have the pleasure of hearing her play.... Siobhán stems from a musical family and is daughter of the legendary Tommy Peoples, and grandaughter (on her mother’s side) of Kitty Linnane, the piano player with the storied Kilfenora Ceili Band. She may be a Clarewoman but Siobhán Peoples is also heir to a peerless Donegal fiddling tradition. The precision and intricacy of her performance of both Clare and Northern music has made her one of our most sought-after fiddlers. Siobhan presently lives and plays music in Ennis, County Clare. Siobhan is also fiddle tutor on the BA Irish Music and Dance at the Irish World Academy. Join Siobhán at the Friday trad session, Saturday concert and for 8 hours of master instruction in our weekend workshops from 15th - 17th May!
