When you have family that really want to support you on your farming adventures you get some supplies that aren't ideal for your system. We received some jiffy pods for Christmas which we do not want to use with our regular produce so we will use them to start herbs for personal use. Since herbs are never our focus, starting them in this medium makes maintenance quicker since you just have to pour water in the bottom of the tray once it starts to dry out. This year we are hop...ing to have fresh dill, sweet basil, rosemary, oregano, thyme and Thai basil at our fingertips! Our veg isn't the only thing to get the organic treatment! We noticed the start of nest eye (a common eye infection with large litters) in some of our baby rabbits. So each one got a warm compress over each eye to help draw out the infection then cleansed with some ultra strong camomile tea with honey. These little fluffs are 7 and 8 days old and growing quickly! We've lost 3 of our poor babies to different causes but these 12 are very healthy. Having 2 does watching over them and nursing them has definitely benefited their size and development!!
