Still a huge issue in Canada and abroad - illegal, fraudulent, scamming immigration consultants. I hear these stories every day. People loose their life savings for a false promise of coming to Canada. If you've obtained your status in Canada through a fraudulent person, there's a great chance that they will be caught eventually and every case that they had done will be overturned. Make sure that a person who's helping you with immigration process is a Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant and a member of ICCRC in good standing. http://usa.inquirer.net//fil-canadian-pleads-guilty-cheati

What this article doesn't mention is the provincial nominee programs for students. Eight Canadian provinces have nominee programs for international graduates and British Columbia and Ontario also have international post-graduate programs that don't even require a job offer for a nomination. Immigrating to Canada through education is still a great way for both Canada and young immigrants. https://www.thespec.com//7985693-missed-immigration-oppor/

Pilot project to confirm selected in-Canada permanent residents by telephone Ottawa, December 1, 2017 In an effort to provide better client service, IRCC is testing a new method to confirm permanent residence (PR) by telephone. Once a PR application has been approved, selected clients, who are already in Canada, will be sent an email from an address ending in @cic.gc.ca or a message through their IRCC online accounts inviting them to be confirmed as a permanent resident by... telephone. Clients who proceed with a telephone interview will then have their confirmation of PR either mailed to them or uploaded in their IRCC online account. The benefit of this pilot project is that clients who are already in Canada do not have to travel to an IRCC office or leave and re-enter Canada in order to be confirmed as a PR, potentially saving clients both time and money. Clients cannot request to be included in this pilot project, however, depending on the success of the pilot project, IRCC will determine if this should become part of the normal process for all clients. Some questions on the overall experience may be asked to those who participated and the answers provided will help determine if the pilot was successful. This will not influence the outcome of the client’s confirmation of PR.

As of 9 a.m. ET (4 p.m. EET) on December 1, 2017, citizens of Romania and Bulgaria no longer need a visa to travel to Canada for short stays (normally for up to six months) for visiting, business and tourism activities. However, similar to other visa-exempt travellers, they will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to or transit through a Canadian airport.
