They want to see that you’re able to arrive on time, come prepared, answer questions easily and still be yourself - which isn’t always easy for people when they know they’re on camera. So that being said, we did our research and here are th...e best practices when you’re preparing to interview for a job in 2021. Pick your spot. If you’re familiar with Room Rater on Twitter then you’ll know that where you’ve decided to set up for the video call is very important. Make sure you’re not easily distracted, the wifi is strong and keep in mind that the person on the other end of the call can see everything behind you. If you’re on an Apple product then you have access to Photobooth - open it and see how the lighting and position is but keep in mind that each video service may look a little different than what you see here. If you’re on a PC or tablet then you can easily set up a mock-meeting on one of the video service platforms to check your specifications too! Audio check. Test the microphone and speakers you’ll be using for the call. Are your Airpods charged? Get dressed. Whether that means putting on makeup for the first time in 8 months or slipping into something other than sweatpants is up to you but do your part to show that you arrive prepared. Join early. A few minutes before the interview is set to begin you can enter early.
