Summerland Minor Baseball Association 06.09.2020

Hey everyone As Summer starts to wind down we are looking to see if there is an interest in fall ball this year. If we move forward. Registration will likely happen soon. I would like to get a feel for how many would partake in fall ball. Could you reply to this post and let us know if you will or will not be interested in fall ball. Please spread the word to others and have everyone join this group to stay up to date. Please also see the article from baseball bc. Regarding return to play. At the moment we will be permitted to play only teams in our organization. There will be a few stipulations on the use of sanitizers and potentially masks. More info in a few days.

Below is a copy of the BC minor baseball media release. Hopefully we will hear good news soon. Return to Play Insurance Update. With the warmer weather, municipal parks re-opening, and numerous announcements of youth baseball returning to play in the US we know that the excitement and desire to return to practice and games is compelling. This week Baseball PEI announced their plans to resume activities June 1st and in doing so have piqued the interest of the rest of youth s...ports organisations across Canada. Understandably, while PEI has some of the best stats when it comes to the minimal impact of COVID-19 on their population we are all hoping for the very best and look forward to their Return to Play policies as they are announced. We too are working towards a start date but are on a different timeline. As anticipation grows louder every day we too are eagerly awaiting Return to Play policies and answers to insurance issues that surfaced this last week. Also, and in addition to the above, weve found through different lines of communication that some players and some coaches have started some on-field training ahead of published Return to Play guidelines with or without the approval of local field authorities or their home Association. Understandably some of this may just be parents administering their own interpretation of social distancing. Taking the above into consideration, we feel it important to remind our member Associations about the terms of your insurance coverage under BC Minor Baseball so please take the following into consideration; - BCMBAs 2019/2020 insurance package expired on March 31st. - BCMBA has renewed our coverage for the 2020/2021 season. - Communicable diseases such as Covid-19 (and others) are now exclusions from the policy. - To be eligible for coverage a member Association must have paid their affiliation dues for the season. - To date BC Minor Baseball has not collected affiliation dues as we do not know when we will be returning to play or the format of what that may be. So, until we know what this season has to offer, we ask that you keep this in mind as you and your members ready themselves for a 2020 Baseball season.
