This is how I started my morning :). This 3 year old came to see us a year and a half ago for a second opinion. The dentist that he saw prior placed SDF (silver diamond fluoride) on his 4 front teeth to prevent the cavities from progressing. Unfortunately, while very effective, SDF turns cavities from yellow/brown to black. That dentist planned to extract his 4 front teeth bc of the cavities. @dr.ashleygill saw him at our office and since the teeth were stable she suggest...ed monitoring the teeth until all of his baby teeth come in so that if he develops cavities on any other teeth we can fix them all at the same time while he’s asleep. By the time he came back for his next visit with us, habits changed at home, no more night feeding and mom was taking very good care of his oral hygiene and by this point mom wanted to hold off on putting him to sleep and was happy to continue monitoring the cavities. When he turned 3, mom reported that other kids were questioning his black teeth and he was starting to become self conscious and the decision was made to go ahead with fixing the teeth. Amidst all of the craziness right now, it’s so nice to feel happy and appreciated!!! We truly have the #bestpatientsever and the #bestfamilesever !!!!!!

I’m so relieved. We were just notified that we can continue to provide oral health care as per usual. I was so nervous all day bc I was was dreading having to go back to the dental restrictions that were imposed on us in March. The first shut down caused so many delays to patient appointments and the repercussions have not been pretty. We have never been so busy fixing big problems that might have been avoided if treatment was provided sooner. I’m so thankful that we can continue to care for our patients. My truly goes out to all of the lives that are affected by these shut-downs and by this horrific virus. This is such a tough time for so many people. I can’t wait for this to be over!!!

I have never been more ready for the #firstdayofschool !!!

This little guy is just shy of 2 and has a beautiful new smile to show off! We treated his cavities with SDF (silver diamine fluoride) a few months prior to buy us some time until he was a little older and until healthy habits were in place at home. Cavities can be caused by multiple factors and we want to make sure that we are providing definitive treatment in a healthy mouth. Although SDF does stain the cavities black, we are able to eventually cover it all up pretty nicely :) @elevate_oral_care and @sprigusa are a good combo for these babies!!

After a long work week we enjoyed some much needed us time. Had a yummy lunch @localpubliceatery where we talked (mostly about work ) and appreciated this beautiful gift of a day in Oct. Have a fab weekend!!!

Every time I tell people that my daughter has cavities too, I can see their shoulders drop and hear a sigh of relief. I will do anything to take away the parent guilt. Sure, for many there’s room for improvement, but even if you’re very careful with diet and oral hygiene, cavities can happen. I can’t remember a day that we missed brushing and flossing for this 3 year old. I try to manage her diet as best I can, but with 2 older sisters around, it’s so tough. We do the best we can, we deal with small issues before they become big issues and we move on. There’s only so much we can control. Sometimes we just have to #letitgo

Surprised at how well our patients have responded to our new garb! Although they can see very little of ours faces, they must have become even better at reading our body language and sensing our energy. It’s amazing how adaptable kids can be. Kuddos, kiddos :)

This is unrelated to dentistry but COVID-19 has had an affect on all of us in some way. My mom has been in the hospital for the past 2 weeks (unrelated to COVID) and visitors are still not allowed in. She’s improving thankfully but I can’t tell you how hard it’s been on our entire family, especially my dad, not to be able to see his his wife of 57 years. My brother looked through every window until he found my mom’s room and this is a video of my dad seeing her through the window for the first time. True love knows no boundaries. Hopefully visitors will be allowed back in soon and this will all be behind us.

I have to send a note to thank your team and especially Rachel for the excellent care we received this morning! Up to today, Rhys has never let any medical professional near him, but by the end of our visit this morning, he willingly let Rachel brush his teeth and I could tell that he was very much at ease.
