This past September, the Windsor-Essex County physiotherapy community lost a dedicated and talented physiotherapist. Joe Grossi was a wonderful husband, doting and caring father, a son, and friend. He was a successful Physiotherapist and clinic owner of Grossi Physiotherapy in Leamington and Kingsville. He focused on his family and friends. He travelled. He ran and cycled. He loved to play guitar. We estimate that he provided care to thousands of people during his career. ... He was supported by his community and he supported them. He was one of us. We are excited to announce we have a new teammate at Riverside Physio! Nathan Atkinson is a Registered Physiotherapist that will now be accepting new patients. Nathan is originally from Avoca Beach, Australia and could not resist the chance to work in Riverside after seeing our beautiful sandy beaches that reminded him of home All kidding aside, Nathan graduated with a Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney after also completing a Bachelor of Spo...rt and Exercise Management and a Bachelor of Health Science. He is currently working on his Graduate Certificate in Sport Physiotherapy. He has been practicing for nearly a decade at clinics in Australia and Toronto and has worked with elite level athletes while traveling with the Australian Ski Cross and Skeleton teams at World Cup events in Canada, USA, and Europe. He has also worked with the Canadian National Ski Cross team at Nor-Am Cup events in Canada. In Australia, he worked for his local rugby union, rugby league, and soccer teams as well. Welcome Nathan! We are open to see ALL PATIENTS with strict protocols set out by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and the Ontario Ministry of Health. Screening: All patients will have mandatory Covid-Screens over the telephone before every visit using the Covid-19 Patient Screen provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Patients will be asked to attend physiotherapy alone unless they are a minor or person that requires a guardian for assistance. Parents and guardians must als...o be screened to enter. All staff will be screened before every shift. There will also be signs at the clinic entrance and around the inside of the clinic directing further protocols for screening procedures and sanitization. Sanitization stations are set up around the clinic. Any positive screens will be guided with steps to follow for the safety of staff and patients. Social distancing: will be in effect with regard to 6 FEET or 2 METERS. MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED by all patients, visitors, and staff at all times. Staff will also have visors. You may bring your own mask or one may be purchased for $2.00 with $1.00 being donated to the Riverside Miracle Park and Miracle League for children with challenges. Please wear physio-ready clothing, try to use the bathroom at home, and bring your own pen in case any further documentation is required to fill out. Please use our automatic door opener with your elbow or knee as able. Reception: our waiting room will be limited so please remain in your car or outside until 5 min before your appointment time. Strict appointment times need to be followed to ensure proper sanitation and planning for each treatment session. Please wash/sanitize your hands immediately when entering the building. Please stand behind our plexiglass when dealing with administrative tasks at the front desk. We are able to offer Interac Tap as we prefer cashless methods of payment. Virtual physiotherapy will continue to be offered for situations where it is more reasonable or you feel more comfortable in the comfort of your home. With all the hype of the golf season finally starting this weekend, Troy was excited to share he was able to complete his Level 2 Medical Titleist Performance Institute Certification Exam online @mytpi Level 2 in addition to the Level 1 live course Troy attended in Toronto last year allows him to screen golfers/patients with the goal of determining sources of pain/dysfunction in the golf swing and swing characteristics that may be leading to poor outcomes in g...olf shots. If determined that a golfer has pain or dysfunction, an appropriate treatment plan will be implemented. If the problem is deemed golf specific, Troy can refer you on to a PGA golf professional for proper coaching.
