My late grandmother used to tell stories about the memekweshuu. She said they live between the rocks and sometimes, they show themselves to people. One time, long ago a man who was staying at the Smokey Hill saw two of them at the edge of the rapids. One was huge and the other was smaller. The older one told the younger one to hide its’ face. As the man approached them and the younger memekweshuu couldn’t hide its’ face. The man was fascinated and stared at him. Its’ face was covered with hair, nose was flat and eyes were sunken and black. Then the two memekweshuuch got into a boat-like vessel and paddled straight to the rocks and disappeared. It was like they went through a portal.

Took this vid this morning. Despite the fog, the rapids are absolutely majestic as always.

Good morning, This is a message for all community members who want to use or are using the cabins and traditional structures at KM22. Due to covid-19 safety measures, we will not be providing mattresses & bedding, cookware and camping equipment anymore. You will have to bring your own belongings and please remove after your stay. The cabins will be sanitized after each use. ... Also, we are strongly urging you not to litter on the camp grounds, there are garbage bins for this purpose. This camp and cabins were built for the benefit of our community. So, please respect the property in keeping it clean and well maintained. If you want to book your stay at our cabins, you can contact Carrie Weistche at 819 527-4206 or myself at 819 895-4128. Cabins are on demand during this season so it’s best to call beforehand. Thank you for your understanding and we appreciate your collaboration. TAKE CARE & STAY SAFE. Camp management; Carrie Weistche Pearl Weistche
