Finally!!! After a very long sabbatical from riding, to let my knee heal from an injury, a few weeks ago, I got back on my bike! First ride was 40k, with two small hills, slow as ever, but I loved every minute of it. Andrew and I have our BEST date nights when we are out doing something active together. I was so excited to go for our ride and meet up with the incredible group of people who invited us to join them. Riding that night was, like always, amazing to me for so many ...reasons. First, I feel so alive and thrilled that my body does what I tell it to on a bike - not the most obvious after so many health hiccups along the road. Second, and as importantly, I inevitably love the people I ride with, because necessarily, no one is there to show off, and everyone is in it to be together, to get some exercise in the great outdoors (stunning route that night!!), and to be supportive. I am always inspired by the stronger cyclists who can whip up any hill, yet who wait at the back of the pack, to ensure the weakest get up without a hitch. They are invariably willing to give a push the newer riders if and when needed, with great pleasure and a smile. And third, I always love seeing Andrew u-turn back to come and look for me when he thinks I might be struggling along the road. Sweet, loving, and encouraging. I am back on my bike, and I am THRILLED about it! See more

This is a Zuma sailboat circa 1985... The first sailboat I sailed way back when. It is complete with all original parts: it's wooden centerboard, wooden rudder, and original - (or as my 15-year-old son would say "OG") -Zuma sail. I resurrected it from the woods that it had been nesting in for decades, washed it (a lot!!), and used a YouTube video to remind me how to rig it. I took it out last week, but I underestimated the wind that day on my normally über calm lake. In a fa...ntastic twist of fate, I had a repeat performance of capsizing, followed by getting stuck at the other end of the lake, just as I had when I was 10 years old, only this time with my 10-year-old son in tow. My eldest swam out to save us à la "Bay Watch dude", complete with the red handheld buoy, string cross-chest, and the running start. Beyond cute. It turned out to be the BEST day EVER on the lake, according to my boys, just as that day, all those years ago, was for me! Great fun, exciting adventure, with my kids learning to LOVE the lake, just like their mom. I could not ask for more. See more
