Have you spotted one of these in the neighborhood yet? Introducing the first poster artist in the Queen Mary Park Poster Project, Sanaa Humayun (@sanaahumayun )! Sanaa, with the help of her project mentor Brianna Tosswill of @penrosepress, has created and distributed these thought-provoking and humorous posters all around Queen Mary Park. If you come across one please post and tag us in your photo! Sanaa speaks about the poster concept:... "My understanding of place has never been rooted in geographical accuracy. I lived in Edmonton for 9 years - I moved by myself, at 17 years old, and lived in three distinct parts of the city. Each part of the city holds for me a very specific section of my life. Queen Mary Park holds memories that feel incredibly important to me. I went through a complete career change here, I enrolled in art school, I committed to being an artist, I had countless personal triumphs and struggles. Whenever I am there I remember the person I was when I lived there. My sense of self is directly tied to place. Living in Queen Mary Park was probably the most stressful period of my life to date, through no fault of the neighbourhood. Nostalgia softens everything though, and in hindsight I remember the moments of unexpected joy and care as well. This poster is intended to capture the way that space and memory are tied together and the way our memories fail to hold accurate descriptions of space." . . . . . . . #yegarts #queenmarypark #localartist #posterartist #yeglocal #screenprinting
