GBGH COVID-19 outbreak update December 10, 2020 The COVID-19 outbreak on all inpatient units at Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH), declared December 4 in consultation with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, continues. As of the end of day December 9, there have been the following cases related to the outbreak:... Six inpatient cases o Four remain admitted in hospital o One discharged home o One death 17 staff/credentialed staff cases Contact tracing for current patients and staff is being completed through the hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Prevention and Control departments. Contact information for anyone who has been an inpatient (and has now been discharged) or outpatient at the hospital, or who may be considered a high-risk contact of one of these cases, has been provided to public health for community follow-up. GBGH has tested 527 staff and credentialed staff since December 5.

DATE: November 16, 2020 OPP Assisting York Regional Police Searching Honey Harbour Area for Missing Markham Resident (GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP,ON)- Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently searching in the Honey Harbour area of Georgian Bay Township for a Markham resident who was last seen at the Markville Mall at 4:00p.m. November 4, 2020. (See attached YRP media release) Through investigation, a vehicle associated to ...the missing person was located by OPP officers assisting York Regional Police Service (YRP) at 9: 47 p.m. November 15, 2020 parked at a Honey Harbour area marina. Currently, OPP officers are searching the area and are being assisted by members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and K-9 Unit both of Central Region Headquarters along with the Underwater Search and Rescue (USRU) and Aviation Units from OPP General Headquarters Orillia. The missing person is described as being male, 24 years, 5' 8" tall and a weight of 165 lbs, medium build with brown hair and brown beard, last known to be wearing a dark coloured blazer, white dress shirt, black dress pants and black shoes. (See attached photograph) The located associated vehicle is a white 2011 Mazda 3 bearing Ontario licence plate # CEKS726. Investigators suggest that Samim may have been in the Honey Harbour area since November 5, 2020. Two Sudden Deaths Reported Within Four Hours in Midland (Midland, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay detachment are investigating two sudden deaths that were reported within four hours of each other during the early evening hours on December 9, 2020 in the Town of Midland. Officers continue to investigate with the assistance of the Southern Georgian Bay Crime Unit, and Forensic Identification Services (FIS). The cause of death for a 25 ...year old female and a 38 year old male is still under investigation. However, investigators believe that there is a strong possibility that both deaths are related to drug use. Police would like to remind the public of the fact that the misuse and abuse of controlled substances is very dangerous and is often deadly. If you suspect someone is overdosing or is in need of medical attention, immediately call 9-1-1 and stay with the victim. Detachment members would also like to raise opioid public awareness with a focus on the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act (GSDOA). Observers of an overdose may hesitate to call 9-1-1 in fear of police involvement therefore the GSDOA provides some legal protection to encourage individuals to seek life-saving assistance, including for the person experiencing an overdose. The GSDOA provides protection against being charged for possessing drugs for your own use and for violating conditions of a bail, probation or conditional sentence for drug use. If anyone has information surrounding these incidents, they are being asked to contact the OPP at 1 888-310-1122. Remembrance Day Midland Remembrance Day is a day for all Canadians to remember the men and women who serve, served, and sacrificed for our country. It is a day we encourage every individual, young and old, to pause, to give thanks and to remember. Restrictions due to Covid-19 are in place and this year the public were asked to please refrain from coming to the Midland Cenotaph on Remembrance Day. However, the service - with a minimal contingent of volunteers was live on Rogers TV and rogerstv.com/midland and captured through the lens of snapd Midland/Penetang. This year we were asked to honour the most sacrosanct and central element in Remembrance, the 2 minutes of silence from wherever we were. During this time of reflection, many paused to honour, thank, and remember our Fallen.

OPP and Tay Township Fire Service Investigating Suspicious Explosion Sound Overnight in Victoria Harbour (TAY TOWNSHIP, ON) - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay Detachment responded at 12:37 a.m. November 6, 2020 to reports of an explosion sound in Victoria Harbour. Reports from area residents in the Maple, Park and George Streets area stated a loud explosion sound along with a bright bluish light occurred in the Community Centre or the Indu...strial Park area at 12:30a.m. Responding officers patrolled the area without locating a scene or cause of the sound. Investigators were contacted this morning after a building on the corner of Maple and Park Streets was found to have incurred damage to its roof overnight. The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM) has been contacted and are attending to assist in the on going investigation.
