Well, there’s nothing like a global pandemic to help push you to adapt and reach new heights! So with that in mind, I’ve decided it’s time for SNAPHappy to grow... up a little and I’m rebranding my business under my own name Nicole Rose Photography <3 I’ll still be serving families with fun photoshoots and beautiful, candid images. But I always love to learn new skills and push myself creatively so I can’t wait to start offering new services like studio sessions and beauty portraits! I am forever grateful to all the folks who have supported my business these past few years. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have a business at all! What is your most treasured memory from your wedding? Was it getting ready with your best friends? Seeing that first glimpse of each other? Listening to the stories shared by friends and family? Or maybe your first dance as a married couple? For me it was the limo ride. ... I had never even been inside a limo before my wedding day. Renting a Iimo really wasn’t in our budget. But my parents gifted us a limo to take our whole wedding party from the church to the reception. I felt like a total celebrity as we laughed with our friends, sipped on champagne and waved to anyone and everyone we passed by. Overjoyed and totally carefree. Kids are so much fun to photograph! Their energy and spontaneity are truly what make family sessions so enjoyable. I like to tell parents at the beginning of our session that they’ve got the next hour ‘off’ - to relax and not worry about the kids’ behaviour. The session is a time to be enjoyed and I choose locations where we can play in the water, run through a field or cuddle in the grass. In order to capture images of children that are candid and authentic, we need to ...let them explore and be themselves. It was a project meant to bring some joy to folks cooped up at home because of COVID and raise some much-needed funds for our local food cupboard. But it became much more than that for me. A welcome reprieve from the uncertainty of the pandemic, a purpose for picking up my camera again and a chance to bring about positive change at a time when it was especially hard to see anything positive. Thank you - truly from the bottom of my heart - to everyone who supported #fronts...tepsproject Whether it was sharing a social media post, signing up for a session or making a donation - toward mine or any of the several projects that took place in and around Ottawa. Donations are still coming in but at the end of the day my project will have raised over $1,500 for @barrhavenfood For those families I photographed just this past weekend, I’m busily culling and editing and hope to have your galleries out this weekend! Life felt like it was on pause for three months and we’ve been trying to make up for everything we missed out on all in the past week! My head is spinning from all the birthdays, BBQs and end-of-school celebrations in the best way possible. I couldn’t be happier to hug family again and share a drink with friends IRL. But I’d be lying if I told you that I didn’t nap this afternoon like I was still in quarantine!

When I found out Katie and Chris’ April wedding would have to be postponed until as late as December I was so disappointed for them. Having met through work, I watched Katie’s relationship with Chris unfold and grow and I loved seeing how much Chris had become a father-figure to her son, Bennett. This wedding meant so much to her and Chris and also Bennett. But Katie wasn’t going to let a little pandemic stand in her way! With lots of help from family and friends and a g...ood dose of luck, Katie and Chris had a beautiful and intimate ceremony this past weekend and it was an absolute honour for me to capture it for them. As we all stood safely apart on the beautiful lawn of a family farm and witnessed Chris and Katie not only commit their love to one another but also to Bennett, I could feel something being restored with in me. I was reminded that despite how much of our world has changed in these past few months, how much distance we’ve had to put between ourselves. Love is eternal. Love can overcome. And it’s all we really need. I am beyond grateful to be able to photograph this family last weekend. Their in-home newborn session scheduled for late March turned into a beautiful outdoor session in June that was absolutely perfect! Not to mention what total rockstars these two parents getting the whole family up, fed, dressed and out of the house before 8am!
