Did you know...? that MOST Extended Health Insurance Plans renew coverage limits annually on January 1 each year - this resets your co-pays and deductibles which may cost you more money with early year claims! Save money by purchasing your CPAP machine or resupplies before December 31 because your annual deductible and co-pay are likely satisfied by now and are at the lowest at this time of year while your reimbursement amount is at its highest! This means the most money ba...ck on submitted claims at this time of the year. If you have questions about your insurance coverages or renewal date, contact your extended health benefits provider directly or HR expert for more information on your particular policy's coverage.

When patients are looking to purchase a mask, we often get asked "which mask is the most popular to buy?" This is how we respond to this question: "There are 3 main styles of CPAP masks available: Nasal, Pillow, and Full Face. Each style is interchangeable with every machine and can be a different manufacturer than the CPAP machine you are using. While Nasal masks have historically been the most popular among CPAP users, we consult together with you to choose the mask tha...t is best for YOU! " Common consultation questions may include: -what is your preferred or most common sleeping position (side, stomach or side sleeper)? -do you toss and turn a lot during the night? -do you wear glasses (for reading before bed) while you use your CPAP equipment? Other considerations are important too, such as: -for men - length and amount of facial hair -your nose shape and projection also come into play We are happy to answer ALL of your mask questions and discuss the best options for YOU during a personal consultation - which is FREE! *To maintain physical distancing and so that we can focus on YOU with minimal interruptions, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment for your consultation. Call us today at 778-771-0169 to schedule!

Tip of the Day - How to get used to your new CPAP: 1) Try wearing just the CPAP mask for short periods of time while you're awake for example, while watching TV - then try wearing the mask and hose with the device turned on during the day while you're awake. 2) Once you get used to how that feels, start using the CPAP device every time you sleep including naps. ... *Just wearing the CPAP device every now and then may delay getting used to it. Stick with it for several weeks - or more - to see if your mask and pressure are right for you. If you're still struggling, please contact us so we can ensure the mask and pressures are right for you. We can also provide you more tips and encouragement! Remember...All appointments under our Care For Life program - of which you become a member when you purchase a machine from us - are FREE so rest easy and trust us to help you get your best sleep to live your best life!

It's not just CPAP that can help you sleep better - practicing good "Sleep Hygiene" (see tips below) - goes a long way in helping you to get to sleep and stay asleep while the CPAP machine ensures you obtain the most restful sleep by maintaining an open airway so that you can breathe your best all night with little interruption. Quick Sleep Tips Follow these tips to establish healthy sleep habits:... -Keep a consistent sleep schedule and habits -Get up at the same time every day, even on weekends or during vacations -Set a bedtime that is early enough for you to get at least 7 hours of sleep -Don’t go to bed unless you are sleepy -If you don’t fall asleep after 20 minutes, get out of bed -Establish a relaxing bedtime routine -Use your bed only for sleep and sex -Make your bedroom quiet and relaxing -Keep your bedroom at a comfortable, cool temperature -Limit exposure to bright light (and blue light from electronics) in the evenings -Turn off electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bedtime -Don’t eat a large meal before bedtime -If you are hungry at night, eat a light, healthy snack -Exercise regularly (walking, swimming or yoga are beneficial in the evening to relax your nervous system to prepare for bed) -Maintain a healthy diet -Avoid consuming caffeine in the late afternoon or evening (this includes tea, coffee and pop) -Avoid consuming alcohol before bedtime -Reduce your fluid intake before bedtime (so you'll be less likely to need to wake to use the washroom)
