'PAHONIA' Cross Stitch Pattern - www.etsy.com/ca/listing/854507666 to the lasting right now Belarusan Revolution 2020, dedicated! All money of this purchase will go to the charity for supporting the victims of the current usurper' regime and freedom fighters.... I believe, because of the events of Belarusan Revolution 2020, Pahonia became famous as a symbol of Freedom around the world. PAHONIA (Chase) is the national symbol of Belarus. To understand the importance of Pahonia’s symbolism for the Belarusans, one should know that the Grand Principality of Litva, the GPL (or in imprecise old translation the Grand Duchy of Lithuania) is the former state based on the ethnic territories of the Belarusans. The Belarusans are the descents of the Litvins, the nation of the GPL. Pahonia was the coat of arms of the GPL for many centuries in the Medieval Times. It was also the official emblem of the Belarusan Democratic Republic in 1918 and of the Republic of Belarus from 1991 to 1995. It became once again the emblem and symbol of the Belarusan Revolution 2020. Pahonia has many centuries of history. At first territorial, it has later become a national and state emblem. Rooting in the deep history, the image of a horseman was one of the favorite motifs in East Slavic emblematic and art. Closer to the modern image, Pahonia has been formed in the very early ages of Belarusan history. The knight on the white horse had appeared in written documents and on coins beginning from the late XIII c. And yet it is certain that the idea of it has an even older history. We can even assume that the ancient mythological character Yarila (The Son of the The Great Sun and The Earth), who usually was reflected and depicted as a rider on a white horse, became the archetype for Pahonia. We can’t say when Pahonia has gotten its name and meaning. Pahonia means a chase representing the ancient law of our ancestors: after enemies attacked any settlement, robed and grabbed it, and enslaved its people the warriors armed with swords, mounted on horses, would pursuit, catch up, release and return everything and everyone back home to the motherland! So, all those historical, mythological and mythical defenders are embodied in our sacred Pahonia. And in nowadays, I hope, because of the events of Belarusan Revolution 2020, Pahonia became a symbol of Freedom for the whole world. You can find lots of the info about Pahonia if you google it on the internet. *This particular image of Pahonia is the official Emblem of the Republic of Belarus 1991 Thank you for choosing Pahonia And Happy Stitching! www.etsy.com/ca/listing/854507666 #FreeBelarus #LongliveBelarus #stopjunta #crossstitch #pahonia

The current issue (#52) of A Needle Pulling Thread magazine ANPTmag is here! It features the projects inspired (and made for) by our favourite relatives. My submission to this issue has been the Talisman that I've made for my son years ago. :) It's a Talisman For Good Luck! The project is done in Belarusan Nizanka technique.... In this talisman are three ancient magical symbols to bring luck, success and happiness to all who wear it on their person. Now, you can do it for your loved one. Stay home, be safe and stitch! https://www.aneedlepullingthread.com//talisman-for-good-l/ This is my 22th design published in the ANPT magazine. #SpiritOfBelarus #ANPT #embroidery #BelarusanNizanka #needlework #canvaswork #вышыка #вышивка

The current issue (#51) of A Needle Pulling Thread magazine ANPTmag is here! Its theme now is Favourite Destinations. My work The Lure of Birchwood was a choice of Carla A. Canonico (editor-in-chief) for this issue. I am grateful for Carla's lovely comment on the ANPT's website, "Nostalgia strikes in this piece embroidered with love for the birchwoods of Belarus. Embroidered using straight stitches, it’s a contemplative piece, as contemplative as birchwood."... Here is my intro for this publication: "From afar, details disappear and only silhouettes remain. Sharp corners of my memory have softened over the time. From afar, everything is seen differently. Although, I remember everything. The birches and the beauty of the birchwood are one of the natural symbols of Belarusan culture besides the cornflower, the stork and the zubr (Europian bison). The Belarusans love their forests, especially birchwood, the same way as the British love the ocean, the Arabians love their desert, or the Tibetans love their mountains. My design is a tribute to my memories and love for the splendor of Belarusian nature, which I remember with all my heart." This is my 21th design published in the ANPT https://www.aneedlepullingthread.com//the-lure-of-birchwo/ #SpiritOfBelarus #ANPT #embroidery #needlepoint #needlework #canvaswork #вышыка #вышивка

Here is it. My first attempt to make the designs inspired by the Slutsak Belts. These ere made with Belarusan Nizanka technique. ---------------------------- 'Me fecit Sluciae', which is Latin for 'Made in Slutsak', is a sign which was branded on every Belt, damasked by masters of the Radzivills'* Slutsak manufactory. The town of Slutsak became famous for its manufactories of the most expensive and luxurious piece of garment of the Litvian Szlachta*. The Slutsak Belts are... known all over the world as the Belarusian national relic, as a symbol of the nation. They have turned into an invaluable work of art and have raised the textile art to the highest level. The Slutsak Belts were a thing of status at that time and became a real symbol of the Szlachta' dignity and honour, a noble ancient origin and high social standing and prosperity of their hosts. The famous Slutsak Belts sophisticated with golden threads motifs were only made for people of power. Sending a Slutsak Belt as say diplomatic gift to a neighboring country political mogul was customary. Some part of the historical Belts was also manufactured in Lyon, France, where the manufacturers even used to put a "Slutsak" brand on the belts. And even peasants, who would never in their life be able to afford silk, silver and gold woven Belts, were still wearing pretty fancy belts on top of their simple clothes. The Slutsak Belts were woven of silk, golden and silver threads and were made two-sided, up to 4 meters long and 50 cm wide. Oriental patterns got floriated with traditionally dear chamomiles, cornflowers, forget-me-nots, oak and maple leaves. The Slutsak Belts were made individually and never the same. No wonder weaving a single Belt took almost a year, and its cost was equated to jewelry. * The Radzivills the dynasty of the Grand Dukes of the Grand Duchy of Litva (past Belarus) *Szlachta - a legally privileged noble class in GDL. The Serendipity Colour Play design is published in the current A Needle Pulling Thread magazine issue #50. The instructions and charts are all there, of course. Its team is 'Cherish, Reuse, Recycle'. And my Serendipity Colour Play is stitched with my knitting leftover yarn ... on the pre-sewn pillow . Because Belarusan Nizanka is the best way to such tricks ... The design is based on the traditional Belarusan coverlet patterns. You have a pile of leftover yarn. And you know how to stitch Nizanka. And now, you know what to do with your leftovers ) This is my 20th design published in the ANPT ANPT link - https://www.aneedlepullingthread.com/ #embroidery #stitshing #BelarusanNizanka #SpiritOfBelarus
