Eric Edmeades shares THE secret to responding to emotionally challenging obstacles. It's all about shorterning something called The Hindsight Window.
F2F meetings begin this Thursday Nov 5 at 7pm. See below The first month of F2F meetings will be used as a litmus test to see what sort of response we get numbers wise. ... Meetings will be held Thursday and Sunday from 7-8:30pm. In the event the meetings are full with a number of people unable to get in due to our Max allowable attendance, the following solutions are being examined: 1) Cutting each meeting to 1 hour so that we can add a second meeting after the first. (2 meetings in one night) 2) As well, having a 2nd Facilitator on hand to offer a coffee and conversation at a local coffee shop for those who really need a check in 3) Adding an additional face to face meeting during the week day. Much will depend on how many people are in need of a meeting.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but this was 100% true of me.
Well here is some more awesome news. The Sober Friends Society would like to welcome and introduce our newest Board member Jacquie Nichols. She will assume the responsibility of Treasurer and will also assist Mike Loughman Jr. and myself in the operations of our NfP. She is an amazing addition and I look forward to working with her and the energy she brings.

We are putting the final touches on our brand new Sober Friends Society Website to go along with our FB group and page. What this means, is we as a Not for Profit can begin moving forward with Volunteering, Educational and, new exciting fund raising opportunities. This Not for Profit is for YOU Airdrie. Services that will be available will include all XA and SMART recovery meeting times, Peer Support, Educational tools to support our friends, family, and those who struggle daily with addiction and mental health issues. At Sober Friend Society we try to educate as well as support and empower our community. Understanding as much about addiction and mental health issues as we can, goes a long way in breaking down the stigma that goes along with them. Here is a great YouTube I saw on boundaries. I encourage everyone to take the 11 minutes to watch it. It sure opened my eyes. https://youtu.be/dXvlwXMNbXI
