Now in its second year, the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ Reach peer support program offers first- and second-year students a virtual place... to go to talk to upper-year students about their questions and concerns. Reach peers can engage via live drop-in sessions on Blackboard, by email chat, or on the FAHSS App.
Santa is another casualty of the pandemic. He's having appearances cancelled at malls, parties and parades. But one Windsor man who plays Santa is still finding ways to connect with children. Tony Doucette speaks with "Santa" Bruce Kotowich.

The UWindsor campus will be welcoming visitors on Saturday, Oct. 3, to an online event that will showcase its academic programs and student services. The Virtual Open Day is directed at high school seniors but will also be informative for international students and anyone considering continuing their education or transferring from another post-secondary institution, says Chris Busch, associate vice-president for enrolment management.
This research/article says the same thing Maestro Robert Franz was talking about last evening during his masterclass with SoCA students!
From Dr. Nicholas Papador My article "Percussion Writing in Jacob Druckman's Orchestral Music" is included in the 2020 PASIC Preview issue of Percussive Notes. I will be presenting a Scholarly Research session on this topic at the virtual PASIC 2020. Visionary marimba players commissioned "Reflections on the Nature of Water" when Druckman was cited as the 6th most programmed American composer during the early 1980s (along with Copland, Ives, and Barber!). Druckman's marimba... solo is now arguably the composer's most often performed work. I wrote the article with the strong belief that we as percussionists should become more familiar with Druckman's innovative and dramatic scoring that inspired the commission. EDIT: ALSO - I need to take a moment to thank the University of Windsor Wind Ensemble for performing Druckman's Paean and In Memorium Vincent Persichetti last fall. Our work on those pieces inspired me to dig back in on this topic! See more

Day #3: Catherine McKeever Voice Scholarship Fundraiser: Wednesday's featured alumna is soprano Amelia Daigle, BMus 2012 singing Mahler's "Wenn mein Schatz" McKeever taught voice at the University of Windsor from 1997-2011. So, it was only fitting that a scholarship be established in her name not only to honour her but also to provide financial support to future singers studying at the School of Creative Arts (SoCA).
In case you missed Maestro Robert Franz's interview on CBC Radio One this morning...

Even during a pandemic, the show must go on. After months of darkness, the Capitol Theatre lit up Thursday night as the Windsor Symphony Orchestra prepared for Re-Imagine 2020, its new digital concert series. Along with people discovering the WSO’s incredibly talented musicians, we want to showcase our region to people in other areas of the country, and the world, WSO music director Robert Franz says.... This week and next, the WSO will record various locations around Windsor-Essex, as part of the #YQGStandStrong initiative.
