BLUE CONVENTION 2025 AWARDED TO SOFTBALL ALBERTA Softball Canada is pleased to announce that the Alberta Softball Umpires Association (ASUA) will play host to B...lue Convention 2025. The 13th edition of the flagship event of Softball Canada’s national umpire program will be held in Calgary from April 17-19, 2025, 20 years after the event was last held in the city. Blue Convention regularly sees over 250 softball umpires from across the country gather together for learning, networking and to celebrate our connections as officials in the sport we love. Prior to the 2025 Calgary event, Blue Convention 2023 will convene in Winnipeg in April 2023. There really isn’t another sports officials gathering in Canada quite like it. Even after twenty-five years, Blue Convention remains relevant and provides a focal point for umpires from coast to coast notes National Director of Umpires Jeff Whipple. It remains at the core of our national umpire program and is integral to Softball Canada’s position amongst the top programs in the world The ASUA group has been discussing the potential of hosting the event again in Alberta for a number of years and what could be better than to host on the 20th anniversary of the last time it was hosted in Calgary. notes Softball Alberta Provincial Umpire in Chief Terry Richter, who will also serve as Co-Chair of the event. Our committee members that have been assembled are looking forward to working with Tourism Calgary, as they are the experts when it comes to the destination. There are so many things to do in the spring in Calgary, all in which will make our 20th anniversary celebration at Blue Convention 2025 spectacular.
