Soft Surrogate

If you’ve known me for 20 years, or only known me for 20 minutes, you have probably already discovered that I am a loud, proud, unabashed fan of the band Korn. More specifically, their guitarist Brian Head Welch. He was my guitar hero growing up, and the reason I bought a navy blue Ibanez guitar in Grade 8. To put it bluntly, no Circus or Hit Parader magazine was safe from my scissors cutting out pics and gluing them to all my school books. Fast forward to the fall of 2019 a...nd I get a phone call from Head’s management company asking if I would take on the duty of art directing and designing the album artwork for Head’s other band - Love and Death. Their new record Perfectly Preserved comes out in February 2021 and I am beyond proud to have been at the helm for the visuals of this project. It goes without saying, It has truly been an amazing experience. Working directly with one of my childhood heroes is something I never could’ve imagined. Getting to have a bunch of discussions with Head and toss our ideas back and forth in creating the perfect album artwork, let alone being entrusted with the entire overarching vision for the release is hella validating. Not to mention, getting to meet the other remembers of the band, JR from Spoken and Jasen from Breaking Benjamin. What a trip. The album drops in February and I can’t wait to share the rest of the artwork that goes along with this release. Preorder for North America go live on Black Friday, so save your pennies!
