As COVID numbers are rising, government regulations are changing, and the hustle bustle of the holidays is approaching, you may be feeling more stressed than usual. It’s more important than ever to take care of your mental and physical health during this time so that you don’t burn out. At Solace Psychology, we have opened up our schedule to accommodate more clients sessions to help you find some peace before the holidays. ... In the meantime, here are some general stress management tips: create a healthy, simple morning & bedtime routine (3-5 activities that help you feel prepared for the day and then to unwind for sleep) when your anxious brain kicks in, notice your thoughts and redirect them to what YOU can control right now (using sanitizer, deep breathing, limiting social outings) get moving once a day (walk, stretch, do jumping jacks, yoga). Movement releases endorphins and happy hormones to boost your mood practice gratitude (describe what you’re thankful for and why) engage in stress reducing activities like: listening to music, dancing, having a bubble bath or hot shower, drawing or colouring, guided meditation or deep belly breathing, chatting with a friend to take your mind off things, reading, having a calming tea be kind to yourself, listen to your body (if you feel tense, remind yourself to slow down and stretch) If you’d like specific techniques to manage stress, connect with us. 780-702-1079 [email protected] www.solacepsych.ca . . . . #stressrelief #stressmanagement #anxietyrelief #recoveryispossible #recoverywarrior #recoveryispossible #mondaymotivation #yeg #yegger #yegtherapist #counsellorsofinstagram #yegblog #yegpsychologist #yegyoga #yegmeditation #yegfitness #yegfamily #yegcommunity #yeglocal #yegliving #yegwomeninbusiness #yegmoms #yeglife #yegbusiness #yegshoplocal #yegbeauty #recoverycommunity #recoverymemes #depressionawareness #depressionhelp

Today is #internationalmensday Men have emotions, too. It’s ok to cry.... It’s ok to ask for help. It’s ok to not have it all together. It’s ok to not be strong. It’s ok to feel sad. It’s ok to feel happy. It’s ok to be yourself. It’s ok to share what’s going on in your life. Let’s end the stigma of mental illness, especially with men! . . . . #yeg #yegmentalhealth #yegmen #yegfamily #yegconnector #yegcommunity #yegfitfam #yeglove #yegliving #yeglife #yegevents #yegblog #yegpsychologist #yegtherapist #yeghealth #yegwellness #recovery #recoveryjourney #addiction #addictionrecovery

You have to understand...

Solace Psychology Edmonton 02.10.2020

Narcissists only see life from their vantage point. Narcissists think the world revolves around them. Narcissists have an excessive need for admiration, a disre...gard for others' feelings, and an inability to handle any criticism, and a sense of entitlement. So a narcissist can not see the truth, they can only speak and see what is in their best interest, regardless of how it effects someone else. There is no way to change or help a narcissist see what's happening and help them change their behavior. You are powerless, so make sure you put your energy and actions into what is helpful, safe, and in your life's best interest. Raise your hand if you're ready for 2021 Make it your best year yet: https://bit.ly/3mpqvNR

Children that have been traumatized may not feel safe and may be more likely to enter a hyper-vigilant state. This can lead to distress behaviors when the child... becomes overwhelmed and/or triggered. When compliance demands are placed on the child that they are unable to meet the situation may escalate. This may lead to fight, flight or freeze behavior, which may lead to punishment and and retraumatization. It's a cycle that must be broken! #endseclusion
