Later this month the LA Board of Water and Power Commissioners is expected to approve a 25-year cont...ract that will serve 7 percent of the city's electricity demand at 1.997/kwh for solar energy and 1.3 for power from batteries. If approved, the city will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement for 400 MW AC/530 MW DC of solar electricity at a price of 1.997 cents per kWh the lowest price yet for solar power in the US. Adding a 100 MW/200 MWh battery will cost an additional 1.3 cents per kWh.
