Katrina & Morgan I brought them their favourite drinks, we listened to music and had the most chill evening. These sessions definitely fill my cup.

A little b&w magic

I fell in love with them the second they told me they A. Shaved in the car on the way to the shoot with blood dripping everywhere and B. She also painted her nails on the way. And yes, they both made it unscathed by blood and nail polish and we laughed about it for a good 10 minutes. Also, Lighthouse Park in all its glory (golden hour) is hands down the most romantic spot.

I’m not sure what’s cuter the fact Penelope liked Halloween and Nightmare before Christmas so much we stayed strong on the spooky train into the New Year OR the fact that now she runs out of her room saying ghosts are nice and the monster is hiding Whoops.. well there goes my sleep.

When you can’t avoid the rain any longer you just have to embrace it

There may be like a 90% chance of rain on the day of our session (during the rainy months) but I also feel like there is a 90% chance it won’t rain during that one hour. Weather is unpredictable but I find more times than not even if it says it’s going to rain or we cancel it magically doesn’t rain. We got a beautiful, quiet but cold evening this past Friday and I’m so glad we didn’t cancel!

I’m sorry for leaving you at Gabby’s that one time... I disappeared hopped in a cab (probably with a hot dog) and went to bed. Still seems like something I would do though. Mikaela Jo

Counting down the days for when I can hug people again... Anybody else a hugger?!

I’m in a dilemma.. I’m in the middle of selling my home but I also want to decorate for Christmas and knowing my luck I’ll set everything up as then we will get an offer and I’ll be packing it back up again. What would you do?!

And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the move you make.

The only time I’ll ask you to say cheese is if it’s your favourite pizza topping. And if not then your gonna be yelling pepperoni, pineapple or some other interesting topping.

Friendship sessions aren’t just for woman...

In case you were wondering... photography sessions make great Christmas gifts! Or anniversary, or birthday...

Have you ever had a dream that’s felt so real that when you wake up you have to convince yourself it was all in your head? I had that this morning but I dreamed there was a crazy big bug in the bed and it bit us... you can probably guess I got out of bed pretty quickly when I woke up.

Anybody else feeling like no matter how much coffee they drink they are still tired. Today is one of those days, send coffee oh and sleep because P just gave me a glorious 45 min nap.... 45 min... ONLY 45 min!

Let’s talk about kids! I hear so often parents apologizing for their kids behaviour or telling them to stand still and say cheese or fixing their outfits so they look perfect. But I’m going to be real honest... let your kids be kids! I mean do you really expect them to stand there for 20 minutes to an hour saying cheese and without them getting a little dirt on their clothes? I love working kids and I even love the challenge that I am sometimes presented when they are extr...a stubborn! I love capturing who they are and freezing those moments when the don’t think photos are being taken. Bribe them! Let them run! Let them be a little silly! Let them get dirty! And trust the process because these photos are so much more meaningful than just standing still and saying cheese! What do you think?!

Soaking in these last few summer golden hour sessions

Hey you! I thought it’s about time I show my face around here... I’m Sydney wearer of many hats! Including the girl behind Sonder and Spirit. I’m a mom, a wife, a special ed assistant, a singer, and actor... the list goes goes. I never slow down in fact I’m constantly on the move at all times with some sort of creative venture or on off days juggling mom life and drinking all the coffee and catching up on sleep. I started photography a few years ago primarily to capture an...d gain my own content for my blog (that’s a story for another day). I’m a creative junkie at heart I live for the arts and honestly never thought I’d end up taking photos of people other than myself. But... here we are and I’m blown away at how invested I now am. I’ve exceeded my long term goals in the past few months and am blown away with all the support and new faces I have had the pleasure to cross paths with! My bread and butter has always been portrait and from there it’s expanded to family and couples and even weddings which is super daunting and exciting but a big step in the right direction for me. Just know when you book a session with me you aren’t only supporting my family you are now supporting a dream I never knew I had. And for that, I’m SO thankful! Even if it’s just following along, sharing or even just liking my posts. I can’t wait to share more of my story and learn more about yours when our paths to cross! I’ve been quiet around here as I catch up on sleep and editing. It’s been a pretty full month finishing these summer sessions off! Only a few weeks left of summer and then I have some big announcements and changes coming soon! I smell fall around the corner...

Last night was

I feel like I blinked and it’s already August... Which means my favourite season is just around the corner yet it feels weird to be excited because summer has felt so short. Either way looking forward to cooler days with crisp walks and crunchy leaves!

Nothing beats a snuggly laid back home session. Even if it meant we had to bribe littles with a Trolls dance party (my personal fav), popsicles and bubbles.
