This is hard work.

When was the last time you let your imagination take over and you explored with your beings or just on your own? You followed a path without questioning the direction. Told a story without needing to have an ending. We are all exhausted. Overwhelmed. Lonely.... This pandemic has taken a lot of joy out of the everyday. Today my challenge to you is do one thing that is all about play. Even just for a moment. Build a fort in your living room. Explore a path in the woods without taking photos. Play tag with your kiddos. Colour. Set aside the expectations and embrace play, even just for a moment.

Its been an intense month. Inside of all the collective trauma of a pandemic me and my beings provided hospice care and support for our dying fur family member. We have been carrying the weight of grief as a family for a while. All the things I have learned about grief had me prepping my beings from the beginning. Talking about death and dying. What it would look like when euthanasia happened. What would happen to the body. ... One of the hardest parts for them was seeing the enormity of my emotions. I've never been good at showing my feelings. I'm really good at stuffing them down. This broke me open. I am raw from weeping. At first my oldest did not know how to navigate it. We leaned into the discomfort together. Talked about the pain, why I was sad, what grief is. Today she sat down and cried. Big tears. Today she felt safe to express her loss. When she was ready she came to me... Mama... thank you for crying, now I know its ok. We protect our children from alot in this world, but hiding them from our feelings and emotions does not help them. So today. I was reminded that when I shut myself down, so do they. Lessons come in all sizes.

Reminder that you enough. Whatever these days look like, you are doing enough. It can feel like a constant triage, trying to balance it all and figure out what needs your attention more in the moment. Breathe. You are enough. Tag someone below who is on this journey with you.
