Sooke Fire Rescue Service 01.01.2021

Update: 02:15 - crews and apparatus slowly starting to return to Station. BC Hydro crews and EMCON are also on scene at multiple locations working to clear trees and hydro lines. OP - #Sooke Fire has activated a Department Operations Centre. All apparatus out of station and dealing with multiple emergency incidents.

Update 16:10 - Traffic open and flowing both directions. E1 clear. OP - Engine 1 on scene of an MVI 5500 block of Sooke Rd. Single lane alternating traffic at this time.

It’s an exciting day here at Sooke Fire as we welcomed our newest addition to service! Deputy Chief Barney and Firefighter Sutherland completed the traditional transfer of water from outgoing to incoming apparatus and our new Engine 1 is ready to serve our community! Watch for it around town!

Seven #Sooke fire fighters have spent 50 in-person hours each in the past two weeks learning, practicing, and testing for their Medical First Responder certification with Red Cross. With these evaluations now wrapping up, they will begin licensing evaluations through the BC Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board to become licensed First Responders.
