For those of you who wonder what I do on the non fishing days. I can either be found attending car shows in the 65 Mustang that my dad bought new and left to me and is the car I learned to drive in. Or I'm out for a ride on my 1981 Honda CB 750F Super Sport. Both make for fun days off the water.

Lots of Chinook salmon feeding on Constance Bank off Victoria right now. Our most recent trip we limited in 3 hours, landing 6 out of 12 fish in just 3 hours. Most of the fish are in the 6 to 10 pound range.

Today was the draw date for the Sooke Chinook Sea Pen Draw. The only change to the winners announced is that Dave Monyard And Kari Lindroos shared 10 tickets with Dave using his name for the contact on all 10 tickets. They had a blind draw amoungst themselves and as it turns out ticket #262 which was draw was one of Kari Lindroos's five tickets. A big thanks to all the tickets buyers who helped us ell the raffle out and to Sherwood Marine Centre, Yamaha, Seastar Solutions and Bradley Smoker for donating all the prizes at no cost to us. We raised $10,000.00 for the 2019 net pen which will see between 500,000 and 750,000 Chinook released into Sooke Harbour this coming May.

There are lots of winter Chinook around the south of Vancouver Island right now. The Sooke and Victoria waters are producing some very nice catches with a good mix of the fish between 10 and 12 pounds. If you are on the Island visiting family or friends over the holidays it would be a good time to get out on the water for some fresh Chinoook salmon.

September 1st and the awesome fishing in Sooke just keeps on rolling along. One of the best summer fishing seasons in spite of DFO and all the political BS.

The great fishing in Sooke just keeps going and getting better if that is possible. My two clients both took home their two day possession limits of springs, sockeye and a beauty 10 pound hatchery coho to top off the trip. We had the calmest seas of the summer for the last two days as well so a great weekend of boating and fishing.

Sockeye fishing is on fire and on pace with the type of fishing we experienced in 2010 when this dominant Adams River run produced a record 35 million fish returning to the Fraser River system. This morning I was out with guests of the Sooke harbour House Hotel and we limited out by 7am with 2 nice Chinook and 6 Sockeye. We released 2 more sockeye as we already were limited out and lost another 5 or 6 more!!! Easy limits right now and these fish should run in big numbers for another two weeks before beginning to taper off. I have time available so don't miss out. Sooke Harbour House

Awesome Chinook fishing all month and the same again today. We were out from 5am until 11am and the from noon to 3pm. We hit 15 springs and landed 8 of them up to 22 pounds. The first sockeye opening in 4 years starts tomorrow August 1st!!! Now we will be looking for 2 springs and 2 soc fro each person on board. I still have about 9 days in August available.
