COVID-19 has transformed the way healthcare is delivered, both in the community and in our facilities, but one thing that has not changed is that paramedics are... most often the first line of defense a medical emergency. The scope of practice for paramedics allows them to deliver a number of life-saving medications and procedures before they get to an emergency department. As a result, many Saskatchewan residents owe their lives to this specialized group of health care workers. As the global community adjusts to this new normal, so do our paramedic teams. New Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, new patient and household screening methods and alternate ways of delivering standard medical care have all resulted in significant changes to their both their call and medical responses. Like true professionals, they are adapting and maintaining the high level of pre-hospital care that we have come to rely on. #ParamedicServicesWeek Read the full article: https://www.saskhealthauthority.ca//Paramedics-in-pandemic

Dont be alarmed if you see your Paramedics wearing droplet masks and goggles, we swear it's not because we have bad breath, its just a precautionary measure to protect everyone during these trying times. Patients may also have a protective mask applied on them, depending on the situation. This is also currently a 'rather safe than sorry' approach to protecting everybody.

Our hearts go out to our brothers and sisters behind the badge who lost one of their own in today's senseless violence in Nova Scotia, and to all the families and individuals involved. Rest in peace, Constable Heidi Stevenson.

Happy Birthday Jack! This morning our paramedics Brock and Darian, along with Milestone Fire Dept. members, Milestone RCMP members, and more members of the public with decorated cars/trucks than we could count, were part of a parade to wish a local youngster a social distancing Happy Birthday. What a turn out!

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has notified EMS that visitors to emergency departments may now be turned away if deemed appropriate. As such, EMS has been directed that only ONE individual may accompany EMS with a critical patient whose destination is an emergency department in Regina or Saskatoon. For all other patients, ZERO individuals can accompany EMS at this time (an exception would be a parent with their child). We imagine that in the near future, this will apply to all emergency departments to help limit the potential spread and exposure of COVID-19. We ask that you please be understanding if our crews turn you away from accompanying your loved one to the hospital. This is not done to cause stress, but rather because it has been mandated as a safety precaution.
