It’s National Child Day! November 20th has been annually recognized as a day in which we honour the rights of children and youth, and the important role they ...play in our communities and in their own lives. Children deserve every opportunity for a bright future- basic needs, protection from harm and to have their voices heard. While today is celebratory of those rights, it is also important to bring attention to those who are not receiving the respect and treatment they are entitled to. Child Advocacy Centres across Alberta invite you to celebrate National Child Day with us not just today, but year round.
We love the continuous support we receive from the Red Deer city councillors and Mayor, on showing their support for survivors of family violence and Purple Lig...ht Nights. They know Domestic Violence has NO place in our community. They are wearing purple and we hope the rest of Central Alberta will do as well tomorrow for Purple Day #GoPurpleAB #showyourpurple #purplelightnights #Soroptimist #shinealight #savealife See more
Driving down Taylor Drive today you may notice some purple cut-outs along the road. These are the silent witnesses, figures that represent survivors of family v...iolence. The figures are purple to go with the theme of Family Violence Prevention Month. Each figure is different, representing how family violence affects all types of people (all ages, abilities, identities). The figures will be up along the roadside for a few more hours. Next week they will be on the move, "popping up" in various places in the community. #GoPurpleAB #Reddeer #Yqf #Wheretoturn

The Ubuntu Youth Council second event is on November 7! We are hosting a youth talk between the police department and our youth. This is a very important conver...sation that needs to be happening right now especially with our youth. We are responsible for a change to happen right now because it is our future we are creating and the world we want to live in. This is a safe place for youth to ask any questions and get honest answers. Please share this event with all Central Alberta youth, all are welcome! See more
We love making waves, by helping women live their dreams. By granting our Live Your Dreams awards. To women who support their families and have gone back to school. Many have experienced family violence. That is why we are also involved with Purple Light Nights, to create awareness about family violence in our communities. Help us create a difference in someone's life. Spread the word about our awards, tell women you know. Support Purple Light Nights with a purchase of a light, t-shirt or wreath. Additional Live Your Dream awards can also be sponsored, and more women will be helped.
