This year has been tough on everyone. If we weren’t dealing with the fire issues we’d be in a very similar position. All we can do is hope things get better.

T...here is a plastic liner around the edges and if that is punctured we will not have ice this year. We know everyone is excited to use it but please be patient. Community Members and Rec Centre Users! As you all know we suffered a devasting fire in June that sadly forced us to close the building and it has remained closed to date. It’s been a long hard road dealing with everything that goes along with an insurance claim; we’ve FINALLY received the documents that will help us move forward with the first steps to begin the rebuild of this great building. As an organization we were co-insured which after it is all said and done we ar...e in a situation leaving us under funded by $1 million dollars. We know that number is shockingly high and will feel insurmountable to achieve at times, but our Ag Society Board has more passion and drive than ever to see this community building rebuilt, revitalized, refreshed and open for use again as soon as possible. We have been in meetings recently to discuss how to achieve this lofty fundraising goal. We have a renewed excitement knowing that we have expressed support from the Town of Wembley, the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 as well as industry partners that see the urgency to get the doors opened again and want to help make that a reality. As a board we not only want to repair the damages done to the building we want to make it better than ever; in 2018 a feasibility study on the building was completed and included plans for future upgrades and expansions to the facility. It has been decided that while we are in the thick of the reconstruction we are moving forward with phases to start some of these upgrades/expansion. That’s where you all come inWe NEED to hear from you, our community, our users, and our future users. What would you like to see done in the facility, what kind of programs and activities do you want to see come to the facility. What are your ideas on how we can better utilize the space..we know you’ve all got some great ideas share them with us, help us rebuild the heart of our community.
