Souris Valley Industries Ltd

Had a chance to visit the Souris Valley Industries plant today. As I pulled into the yard the first thing that hit me, was the long line of trucks and cars. 40 ...employees with at least 80% of those living right in Weyburn. Don Bell and Jeff Cherlet gave me a tour of what they are building and they told me that they are sending product into Manitoba, Alberta and all over our province. The SVI logo with its Weyburn address logo is known throughout these provinces, thanks SVI for the free promotion. You may question my motives for going into the RM to see industry because the City isn’t collecting taxes from this business. However, check how many trucks are there, 40 employees have City of Weyburn addresses and each of those are contributing to the tax dollars of our city. SVI has trucks constantly coming to our community to get product, deliver product or to bring the raw materials for their product- more economic benefit to our City. I have long stated that for the most part, ‘what is good for the RM, is also good for the City’ and I stand by that statement. The Bell family has invested in our community for generations and I am so thankful for the education I received this afternoon at their plant. I look forward to continuing and hopefully, improving the City-RM relationship both thru industry as well as amenities. Thnx again Don and Jeff See more
