We have received many outdoor designs from families with amazing ideas! We even took a few of the ideas and started putting together the outdoor drop in place s...pace here at the Family Resource Centre. Many designs included a mud kitchen and sand box - we started with those ideas. Here is a sneak peek of the very beginning of the outdoor play space. Along with playing, connecting and having fun with your child/children, the benefits are worth some time outside. Being outside can make us feel happy and calm. The freedom to safely explore the environment stimulates the senses by touching, smelling, hearing and looking. Connecting in nature may reduce stress levels and increase physical activity levels for a better nights sleep!

THIS IS WHY WE NEED TUMMY TIME FOR OUR KIDS! "Babies NEED tummy time! At 11 months old, this little cutie should have a nicely rounded head, developed S curves ...in his neck and low back, and flexible legs that move in and out of various sitting positions. But, largely due to lack of time on his tummy and OVERUSE of "baby containers" such as bouncy seats, swings, and car seat carriers that go from car to grocery store to restaurant, he has positional plagiocephaly (flat skull) a big ol' C curve in his spine preventing him from getting on hands and knees to crawl, and hips and legs so tight he can't even straighten his knees! And these are only the outwardly visible problems...too much pressure on baby's spine and vision centers of the brain from lying on their backs are detrimental to development! So....tummy time, tummy time, tummy time! Do it!" See more

May 10-16 is Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) week. For 40 years, Saskatchewan ECIPs have been supporting children from birth to school age who exper...ience disability, developmental delays or are at risk of delay. Thanks to the dedicated professionals who bring their passion to making a real difference in the lives of Saskatchewan children, and for finding innovative ways to support them during these difficult times.
