Still think i look funny wearing knee pads all the time? Its true coyote season is here! There has been some losses as of late and i am hearing them and spotting them time to time. Luckily we got that rain because now theres some grass to chew on closer to home for the final 2 weeks. The rye in our field we are working on has also reached 2-3 inches. Frost warnings are more frequently occurring and most morning my equipment is covered in a thin layer of ice... speaking of layers my chickens are laying eggs by the BBQ!

Wow! Really windy out here today! But the sun did peak out. There is finally a bit of grass coming up after that rain last week, and the sheep are finding every inch of it. There have been a few coyote kills in the dry flock that happened when the storm came through.

Hello folks, the prairie out here at the foot of the great sand hills is very dry. The sheep have been grazing the leaves of sand cherry, (there first choice) buck brush and sage. If your look on the easterly side of steep sloping hills there is still some later season grasses with some color to them yet the majority has died off. If we could only teach the sheep to eat prickly pare, we may get a few extra days of grazing. We did have a medium frost settle after the light rai...n last week, at 6:00 am the temperature was -6 C at the camp. With the exception of yesterday there has also been temperatures mid day in the 30's Since the lambs left i haven't had any problems with sheep sneaking out of fence which is a welcome break after July or what i now call chaos month.. The post in the picture is the result of when pronghorn are fighting.
