With hurricane Teddy fast approaching Nova Scotia here are some tips, links and important phone numbers to know to help keep you and others safe. Stay away from ANY downed/low hanging power/utility lines and treat ALL downed/low hanging power/utility lines as live and dangerous, please call 911 if you encounter a downed line. Tie down or move loose objects that are outside to the inside of a building. Have a 72 Hour Emergency Kit ready. Have rechargeable batteries rea...dy. Have plenty of bottled water. Have plenty of non perishable/canned foods. Try to limit your time outside during the hurricane (This obviously does not apply to everyone as some people need to be outdoors during this hurricane) If you use a generator please keep it in a very well ventilated area such as the outdoors (away from windows and doors) to avoid potential carbon monoxide poisoning. - If you have an emergency please call 911, however if you’re looking for assistance with something you believe is NOT an emergency, here are some non emergency phone numbers - https://novascotia.ca/noemergency/ - Here is the number for the Nova Scotia Power Outage Line - 1-877-428-6004 - And here is the link to the Nova Scotia Power Live Outage Map - http://outagemap.nspower.ca/external/default.html - Also, here is a very helpful link that contains useful phone numbers and websites - https://ns.211.ca/emergency - Stay safe everyone! #NSSTORM See more
