If you haven’t been following... Closing in on the finish of the Vendée Globe race, top 3 boats should be crossing the finish line within hours of one and other, with 2 or 3 more within 24 hrs. Unbelievable, given they have been sailing single handed non stop for over 28,000 nm. Should be an exciting finish, follow the links for live coverage of the finish.

Scuttlebutt Sunday Remembered this day in history when the bulk carrier SS Brownie, seeking shelter from a freak August gale, attempted to make port in Southampton. Departing from the cocoa mines of the Northern Bruce peninsula with a cargo destined for Hersey, Pennsylvania she encountered heavy seas and was blown dreadfully off course, taking on water the Brownie experienced a hull breach. In a valiant effort to save her cargo captain William Wonka beached the Brownie at the Chesley Street Landing upstream of Highway 21. As fate ruled the day all 1001 metric tons of cocoa escaped into the Saugeen River.
