Today's Friendly Face is Colleen from the @Indian Head Public Library Branch, Southeast Regional Library! Year Started at Southeast: 1989 What made you apply to be a Branch Librarian?... I was a stay at home mom and needed to do something for myself. Take a break from the kids. So I started out doing one day a week, as assistant, until I took over the branch librarian position. I love books and reading so figured it was a good fit for me. What do you want people to know about your branch? That we welcome everyone with a smile. I enjoy showing off our branch, helping people with tech problems, genealogy requests, or sometimes to just listen if someone is lonely and needs to talk. Where do you want to see public libraries in 20 years? Not too much different than the way they are now (except for changing technology). A place where people feel safe, can visit without judgement, can talk to the librarian (like a bartender lol) and know that what they say won’t go any farther, where kids and families can come and have fun or read together. And keeping all this free of charge. Favorite movie Steel Magnolias Favorite book too many to list (Game of Thrones books is at the top of the list, for sure) Favorite TV show was Big Bang Theory but also love Mom. I like sitcoms that make me laugh out loud. Hometown: Regina Hobbies: Scrapbooking, crocheting and reading Number of Kids: 2 (son and daughter) Number of Grandkids: 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter Favorite Vacation place: Puerta Vallarta, Mexico but anyplace hot during our winter months is good by me.
