Southern Comfort Villa

Everyone at Southern Comfort Villa, especially the residents, would like to send out to all those beautiful young women who came to share some of their valuable time with us last evening a sincere thank you. If there was a way to express appreciation for our seniors, these girls did it. The one hour they gave turned into many hours of fun conversation. The chatter inside after was about beauty and fun and not Covid-19. We actually forgot about the pandemic even if it was for an evening. Thank you girls ! Good luck with your future plans, and a big thank you to those who organized this, it could not be done without our community volunteers. Here are a few of the memories of the evening. To all of our family, friends and other seniors out there watching we wish you a very Happy New Year. May the next 12 months be kind to you, may you achieve success in all of what you set out to do this year, may you be blessed with the experience of feeling internal joy of giving to others.

Let the day begin ! Our annual resident and family and friends Christmas day was today. Another spectacular turnout. The residents were so excited to have so many come to see them. Good food, presents and of course Santa. Thank you to Linda Knowles MacPherson and company of fantastic musicians who provided our beautiful music. Thank you to all of my exceptional staff who work so well together as a team to create the most delicious meal. They are truly here for a purpose ...and that is to care for our seniors. It shows in their spirit and the ability to put a smile on everyone's face. Thank you to everyone who volunteered all week and today as well. We were certainly blessed today to be surrounded by such loving and caring people. Our hearts are full of comfort and joy because people in our community care for our seniors. From art on canvas to art on pumpkins. A fantastic group of students were in today for pumpkin carving with our seniors. We are so fortunate to be blessed with such great community residents who care for our seniors and want to spend time with them.

I can sense a wonderful group of artists in the making. Here they are creating a beautiful pumpkin with flowing leaves to celebrate October's beautiful colors. Thank you again to the volunteers from our local art society who came to teach this enthusiastic class of senior students.

All blankets were sewn by Alvina Plourde this past year. She sews all winter and had one blanket bingo in the fall to raise money for more material so she can sew some more. Smart cookie my sister. Everyone had fun winning not only blankets but also door prizes and home made sweets. A really nice way to pass an afternoon.

These young ladies showed that they were not only beautiful on the outside but within themselves as well. Our seniors had the opportunity to see how much has changed since they attended a graduation. They saw how far clothing design has come for todays grads in addition to how confident the younger generation has become with their career choices for the future. Thank you to all you girls who took a couple of hours of your precious summer vacation to again put some smiles on our seniors faces. Difficult not to get emotional when you see how much our community has to offer if we only ask.

These lovely 2018 BHS graduates took the time to model their prom dresses and spend an evening with our residents at Southern Comfort Villa. May 13th, 2018 Happy Mothers Day to our gals !

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone ! Our residents enjoyed good old Irish music, MacDonalds meals with shamrock shakes and a wonderful Irish desert compliments of many kind hearted people and students. Thank you to all who helped make this another wonderful day to help us all get through this tough winter !

ALOHA ! Happy family day everyone and welcome to our Hawaiian party. A huge thank you again to all our special volunteers who always know how to put a smile on our seniors faces. The Hawaiian party, meant to break up the winter blahs, was a huge success. Music, dance and treats and more memories. Keep checking our site for more pictures to come.
